The whole forced amputation thing still creeps me out.
I guess the pilots really are dedicated to their job.
That was the idea, but Star Fox Zero and probably since Adventures probably retconned that. Those boots probably wouldn't function as legs well since the kneecaps would make putting on pants really difficult. Considering how people view amputation and Nintendo nowadays, they probably don't want the idea that they had to amputate their legs to be pilots. Command kind of went with 64 for design and they look like boots.
Amputation would involve figuring out how to get their jumpsuits inside their legs or how wearing a space suit would work since if they get stranded outside of their ships... Yeah... Then again, Adam Jensen wears shoes... I think they're shoes, but they might be legs with feet fashioned as shoes.
I really think it keeps towards the original design
just you know + shine + blaster + a power reader
Fox's "main" design hasn't really changed much, it just switched to a green jumpsuit and that was it. Style things like how his head and body looks aside, it's basically the iconic Fox, but with "Brawl elements" of his Blaster, Reflector, and scouter lens. The only major change was in Assault where he wore an entirely different outfit. Still, I like the metal boots more than his current boots now. Why? Well, that means we can buff Fox now. All his kicking moves now do more damage, so that's rapid jab, Ftilt, Utilt, his Smashes, his aerials, and his pummel too. How do you like Fox being OP again?
The sad part when Falco only has Ftilt, Up Smash, Down Smash, Uair, Bair, Dair, and his pummel as leg moves... ;_;
They're just missing the Shine, Wave-Dashing, L-Cancelling and being Top Tier.
Practically everyone is useless in Star Fox like other games. FOX! Make me some food! FOX! Fight Star Wolf while we fly around like idiots! FOX! Save me even though I'm an ace pilot! FOX! My crayon broke! It's like Modern Warfare 2 again...
