Young Link Vids *Updated 4-29*

I've been out of the game for a little too long, but I finally got around to posting some vids of my Young Link. These were all friendly matches from UmbreonMow's Fest... I'm sorry none of my tourney matches were recorded. The players I'm going against are some of the best PA has to offer, so I undoubtly lost some of these. At anyrate, hopefully these will help you out for certain matchups... although I doubt you'll ever face a Bowser (The Cape is too good).

For the record, in the actual tournament (hosted later that day), I got 7th going just YL. I didn't have the hardest bracket in the world, but everyone I played had the potential to place highly. Wesley and his Falco knocked me out in 3 games.

Nice Young Link. Seems like you know your stuff. Overall you just need to work on your projectile spamming more. Your taking too many unnecessary hits. The Cape is better than your average Bowser, but nothing really all that amazing. I've played awesome bowsers(Ones that have placed really high in major tournies), but even then..when it comes down to it. Young Link completly owns Bowser. He should never be able to get close to you at all because of your projectiles. Bowsers tend to literally soak up all of your bombs and boomerangs, and there is nothing he can do about it. If he hits you, its pretty serious..but why would you even let him hit you that much?

And wow..Youtube is'nt working all of a sudden..so i'll watch your other vids later.

VERY strong at close range, and your tendency to rely on that seemed to pay off ultimately more often then not. However, I must agree with Laijin in that a tighter ranged game would hold off yor opponent more effectively. Y. Link doesn't excel at trading hits and I do aplaud you pulling it off, but the best offense is a good defense. That being said, your opponents playing you so close probably didn't help matters either, but all the same there were still some missed oportunities in that regard. There were a couple of really nice F-smashes (the first against falco was beautifully executed), but they hurt you just as often though when they went awry.

All in all, excellent, at least as good (likely better) then me. I'd say that you performed best in the last match (v. Doc.), but that's just my opinion.

I main Y.Link and personally I prefer arrows to bombs. I have read various guides and people go on about bombs but tbh I think teh fire arrows allow more comboing as they proivde a Falco SHL-esque interrupt.

Actually. Arrows blow harder than bombs and simply can't compare to Falco's SHL.
Unless the people your playing absolutely suck, the lag from shooting your arrows allows for easy counter attacks. Plus arrows are easy to get rid of and dodge. You can do so much more with bombs. So don't ever replace your bombs with arrows, as going to a tournaments and playing with really good people should show you that.

Laijin's right, arrows are no where near as useful as bombs. Still, they have their uses... you just need to be smart about using them. Anyhow, I posted a new YL/Falco match. Enjoy.

Very nice playing. I agree that the match vs Doc was the best. It just looked so fast! The vids vs falco reminded me alot of me and my friend playing. Except you did alot more bomb spamming and wavedashing than I do. And that falco does alot more SHLing than my friend does. Other than that I really like your playing style, just cuz its alot like mine.
