Yoshi Matchup

Has anyone got any advice for the Fox vs Yoshi matchup, or any videos I could watch?

I have no idea how to edge guard him through the armour, and end up having to kill off the top.

I can mostly get around his crouch cancelled dsmash with shinegrabs, but if he lands one that's the stock done. Any advice for recovering against a yoshi, other than a ledge tech?

Well truthfully if the Yoshi is able to use his second jump near the edge he is nearly impossible to edge guard.

Whenever I have trouble recovering against any character I just always try my best to mix up my recovery to keep them second guessing themselves. It helps a lot.

Thanks for the reply! What do you think of footstooling? Someone on reddit recommended that I try using it more often. I know just jumping out for one would be asking for a nair/uair to the face, but I was wondering if a shine to force his DJ -> instant DJ to footstool might be usable?

If he's recovering low, then Usmash him. His armor disappears when his head pulls back during his DJ, at that point, you can hit him and he can't absorb the attack.

As for footstooling, I wouldn't recommend it because of the range and requirements needed to land one; however, if the Yoshi isn't paying attention, then you can get one in if you're quick.

Thanks for the response. Because he's so heavy, I can't seem to kill him off the top until a relatively high %. Plus his down smash just wrecks me so early on, it sends me down at a horrible angle for an easy edgeguard. Not to mention that he's insanely hard to shield pressure, and has that counter. I think I might just play a secondary vs him
