Yoshi dilemma

hi guys, im relatively new to smash boards but a long time smasher, anyways i've been thinking a lot about the brawl character roster and i've come to a dilemma. ever sense the original smash i have mained yoshi, due to the fact that at that point in time he was my favorite nintendo character. the same also applies to melee. however with the wide array of characters to choose from, and after realizing i haven't really played anything yoshi related for quite some time i have considered replacing him as my main. (note: i try and stick to only one character), should i stay with yoshi or not? your thoughts?

tl;dr thinking about subbing yoshi as my main for a character that is more appealing.

It really depends on what you want to main. I'm certainly not going to try to get you to main a character you really hate, and if you like Yoshi, then you can stay as him. If you want to experiment with other characters, that's well and all, but it doesn't mean you have to give up Yoshi as your main.
My verdict? When the game comes out, experiment and try out stuff.

I was a Yoshi main in N64 and Melee, and I'll probably stick with the same in Brawl. Not only do I enjoy his playing style, he happens to be difficult to use and so I'm more unique in my character Yoshi.

In Melee though, I did begin to explore other character options late in its lifespan. Peach happened to be another character that was fun to play as, and I've heard that several other Yoshi players apparently enjoy Peach too. My suggestion: either take the time to try out each character or play as multiple ones. Personally, I'm going to continue playing Yoshi for the same reasons I played him in N64 and Melee; however, I decided to expand my options so that I can not only play more competitively, but so that I may experience more of what Brawl has to offer.

Since you don't feel like playing more than one character (understandable), take a bit of time playing with each character. Find which ones match your playing style. Just keep consideration for that awesome dragon.

That's is one of the wisest things you could have said.

Pick who you want to main. You can only get a general idea about it before the release. It's really about who you like to play as.

If you want to switch charcters it's fine. Just know that Yoshi is always keeping your back covered. Just don't become a ***** with someone you don't enjoy. Also, I'm glad you don't believe in the tiers. It shows other haters that those characters can still win.

Like people said above, all you have to do is experiment a little with other characters to see if any other character fits your playstyle, or you just like their style. But if Yoshi is still your favourite character, you could stick with him. He has a few changes in his moves in Brawl as you probably know, so he'll feel like a fresh character.

He's still pretty much the same Yoshi, but with some changes here and there to give him a fresh feel too. I think you and the other Yoshi mains might like him better.

Well, he lost his DJC, but now it's easier to combo without it. And all his moves a re buffed (except his Side B) and he can use his Up B to recover. He's WAY better.

hehe I played in a melee tournament today and sucked royally because I've been playing brawl. It was not a good day for melee yoshi lol.

Well I guess that means that once you're addicted to Brawl, you can't go back to Melee. Too bad about the loss though.
