Nah, I'd rather not have Yoshi throw ham. Eggs are more than enough, thank you. And I'm not gonna play as Game&Watch either, so no ham for me! :p

R.O.B. is excellent, btw. My other main, in fact. His history combined with his gameplay and the fact that he looks like johnny five from short circuit make him amazing. =D

I really don't see why ROB is so popular. He failed as a NES equipment (seriously, look up some vids about him if you don't know how the NES-ROB thing was), and IMO, he fails as a character too. I'd rather have a character who I can read emotions off the face, not some senseless robot. :/ Meh, ROB will never be a cool character in my eyes, but what floats everyone else's boat, I guess.

lol You make R.O.B. sound like a heartless killing machine. Well...I guess he really is, lol.

johnny five wasn't a heartless killing machine, so R.O.B. doesn't have to be, either. He's just awesome =P

I don't see him as a heartless killing machine. To me he's just.. an NES accesoiry that has no place in Brawl as a playable character, and not in any game as a playable character at that. A cameo fine, an enemy sure, but why does he have to be playable? I would honestly rather have Young Link back, even if he'd be there with both Link and Toon Link. =/ Same for G&W. But well, I guess other people DO like ROB and G&W, so I won't complain. Wasn't this topic about Yoshi and Tiers, anyway? :p

lol I think we drifted from original intent of first post.

Anyways, R.O.B has no heart, so whether anyone likes it or not, Nintendo put a heartless killing machine in Brawl.

Edit: I could live without Game and Watch. He's...well, 2-D. That's just plain freaky.

I really hope that no one in Brawl is low tier. I mean, you can get good with all characters, but when you see your character on the bottom of the tier list.. well, let's just say it doesn't exactly boost morale a whole lot..

There will always be a Bottom Tier. It's inevitable. One character has to be worse than another. It's impossible for all characters to be exactly the same.

:yoshi: The most effective (perhaps not accurate) tier list is one of your own devising.

Your own list should be backed up by hard facts and solid analysis.

These are facts, not opinions.

Fact: Official tier lists faulty by nature, especially Melee's.

Yoshi was listed as king of Bottom Tier when he was clearly DK level, maybe even Mario level (but that's pushing it). Nobody voting knowing how Yoshi plays coupled with the fact that nobody could prove Yoshi's true placing on a consistent basis means the character gets a placing that doesn't suit him. Is that okay? SURE IT IS. Why? Because MY tier list suits my view of the game better FOR ME. Just like yours might suit YOUR view FOR YOU.

Fact: Yoshi will eat another low ranking on this game's tiers.

And that's okay, too. Wanna know why? It's because no matter whose tier list says what, at the end of a tournament set, one player (or character, in this example) stands victorious. If you just got mauled in what was supposed to be a classic high tier v. low tier matchup against your opponent, the list you subscribe to is wrong (or you're just bad). If you take a low tier and blow someone's high tier trash away, then the list you subscribe to is right (or your opponent is just bad). Either way, someone wins and the list actually MEANS NOTHING.

Fact: The tier does not put a glass ceiling on your character's abilities.

This is not a "hope for the best" message. This is a post simply telling all the yung'uns and new folk to think a little more intelligently about an inherently flawed popularity-driven Internet-based tier system that's voted on (<-- that's the big draw, really) by people who place well but may or may not know how the game works.

Get your own facts. Make your own list (if you want). Play your own game.

Don't let other people play Brawl for you. >_>

P.S. - Yoshi is amazonggggggggggggg

That's precisely what tiers are! The top ability for anyone playing a particular character. It's not an objective measurement as to how 'good' a character can be, it's how well the character has been played on a tournament level. If people are upset about the tiers yoshi has been placed in historically, the only way to contest that is to become a fantastic yoshi player and win tournaments. It's really that simple.

Exactly, now we're getting the point, guys. Screw tiers, they're only good for discouraging people from playing certain characters and making everyone flock to others.

BTW nice to see you on the brawl forums, shiri =D
