Honestly, nay to all. Marshall would be the only one I'd consider, but I think Karate Joe is a better representative given that he's been in every game and is a fighter in his own right.

If there was a Resident Evil character in I'd probably pick Leon. I don't really want him, but just for representation's sake he gets a yay as the Resident Evil rep.

Only Leon, though, because his game (Resident Evil 4) was extremely important for the GameCube. if it's Chris or Jill, I'll be upset.

Waluigi: Infinite Yay
He's always been my favorite Mario character and I've wanted a Waluigi game forever. He definitely deserves a spot by now.

Female Gunner: Nay
3rd party I don't care about.

Chun Li: Hard Nay
I hate Chun-Li. Her story is so uninteresting and she has no personality. The deuteragonist of Street Fighter should be Guile, whose character arc is infinitely better. Instead, we have so much focus on boring Interpol agent whose minimal character arc ended ages ago, just because Guile isn't a weird fetish waifu.

Suezo: Hard Nay
I've always hated this one in particular. Creeps me out.

Poo: Nay
I don't care about Mother, and this is the least interesting choice for a character.

Stocke: Nay
3rd party I don't care about.

Alto: Nay

Nay to Flip Wars because they're just budget bombermen.
Nay to Leon because he doesn't fit.
Nay to Walugi because he's obnoxious and I'll never understand why people like him. So, like the second worst Mario character, Bowser Jr, I expect to see him in Smash soon.
Nay to Chun Li because we already have one Street Fighter character going against everything Smash stands for, we don't need two.
And nay to the rest because I don't know/care about them.

Zelda does need some love and Mipha's ok, but she's such a flat character and I'd prefer Urbosa or Revali if we get a champion. And I'd prefer a Zelda main series character before any Zelda spinoff characters.

• Klonoa: know little about the series but looks cool
• Terra (Final Fantasy series): as a Cloud replacement. Again know little about FF but many FF fans told me they'd rather have her over Cloud, she looks cool and guess what! she's from a SNES game and not a Playstation one
• Viridi (Kid Icarus series): I just love Uprising
• Rayman: a nice 3rd party candidate

Day 28's yays:

• Shantae: the best indie choice imo
• Yooka and Laylee (Yooka-Laylee): another good indie choice esp when Banjo & Kazooie are impossible (and no, the Microsoft guy saying they could get in means nothing since in the end Nintendo would be doing free promo to the competition's IP)
• Jeff (Earthbound/Mother series): his moveset could be unique
• Mach Rider: I'm all for weird retro characters
• Galacta Knight (Kirby series): wouldn't be opposed to seeing it or the spoiler form from Star Allies as a clone/costume for Meta Knight

Super Mega Meta Hyper Infinite Yea to Micaiah! My most wanted character since I actually started to care about speculation, my favorite character in the whole video game industry! Please Sakurai! She has tons of potential!

Shantae would be awesome, better than Shovel Knight, at least. And Mipha and Linkle would probably be fun.

But the real gem is Micaiah. It is sad that Fire Emblem is a revolving door sort of series, and even with that being the case, they blatantly missed her during Brawl. If Fire Emblem was as big as it is now, back then, she would definitely be on the roster and as my second favorite Fire Emblem character (Lucina replaced her, but, well Lucina is already in the game), I could not be happier.

Just more female representation in general.

I don't like Zelda, and Breath of the Wild specifically is everything I hate about modern games rolled into one.
