Would this side event be something you'd try?

This side event is a controller crew battle. As in you switch controller options after each loss. Each controller acts as a "life"

Let's say P1 uses a Classic Controller and P2 uses a Gamecube controller. P1 wins, so P2 now has to switch to a different controller, and for the rest of the match cannot use the Gamecube controller. P2 wins the next match using the sideways Wii Remote, so player 1 can no longer use the Classic Controller. This goes on until one player loses with all controller options.

I'd consider it. But probably wouldn't catch on due to the fact it sounds like you're saying you'd be switching from a Gamecube controller. Not many players use controllers aside from the usual Nintendo Gamecube controller. I'm a bit different, because mine is still a Gamecube controller; but it's the only third-party controller that actually compares to the Nintendo Gamecube controller.

If your controller has the button layout of a Gamecube controller, it would be considered a Gamecube controller for the purposes of this event. Where it connects wouldn't matter.
