Ehhm.
I always asked myself who the worst character in the game is.
I can't tell who is the worst character myself, because I am going to take the character that I suck the most with.

So I was just wondering.
Who is the worst, or the less-good character in the game?
Im saying less-good because imo, all the characters are good in SSB64, compared to melee where like 10 characters were good, or brawl (not even wanna talk about it >.>).

My worst character in the game is Ness, because I definitely can't use him.
I know nearly no combos with Ness and I suck doing mindgames with him.

Even if Samus can't combo at all, her mindgames and great aerial moves makes her automatically not the worst character in the game (imo).

In my opinion, Ness is the worst character in the game,
but this dosen't mean he sucks.
I played alot of great Ness players like Quickman, Para or Peek.

Meh...

Who's the worst char, you think?

Luigi sucks.

Ness is high tier.

Link is bottom tier.

Luigi sucks.

Samus has this special property which enables her to seem very light AND very heavy at the same time. I am getting tired of them survivng at 110% when I give them an upsmash from Mario. But they can prance around the stage like little ponies. I hate samuses.

I'm worst with Luigi.

I think DK and Yoshi are the worst.

In my (short) experience playing online i saw just a few players who actually can play well with them.
(not spaming grabs with DK or the down-b with yoshi)

i dunno about worst char but samus is sooooooo boring to use
lol, i wouldn't say that

i love her aerials and the mindgames with her b and down-b

the only bad things are her recovery and her speed while rolling

Samus is great for defense and mindgames. But she's still bottom tier very close to Link, imo.

And as a long time Ness player I think he is high/mid tier imo

I'm going to say Samus until someone can show me something better than dair/bair tricks and up B out of shield spam.

Ness is third best in the game after Kirby and Pikachu. The tier list puts Link at the very bottom, but I think Samus is worse. She has the worst combos in this game which is what you need to win and her recovery isn't much better either. I would even go as far to say Link=Yoshi :/

Anyways, to answer your question Link is the worst according to the tier list.....*ahem* SAMUS *cough*

You guys dont take the tier list too seriously.
Even if characters are unequal, the difference between them is VERY small in ssb64, much smaller than in Melee.

I'm going with Samus on this one. She's far from useless, but she seems to have the least potential at high level play. Her only combos are 2 - 3 hits, and anything more is extremely situational. She has a really high short hop, and one of the floatiest in the game, making her very awkward to maneuver; it's the same problem Luigi has, but at least Luigi has good combos and an awesome recovery.

tl;dr: samus isn't very good

this is exactly my point too, luigi also has far more finishers that he can combo into as aposed to..Dair--Bair/Blast >_>

plus Ping makes luigi > Samus :D

I dunno, I think a good Jiggly player can dominate everyone with her throws being some of the best in the game.(Plus, I play Jiggly! WOOT!)

I think Ness is not so good, his recovery isn't good for long range recovery, and I find that Ness players in SSB64 are spammers....Though, the good Ness players can be deadly.

Ness has an insane potential the problem is you cant do DJC nearly as fast as its possible to do (watch TAS Ness DJC and realize that its devastating) IMO Ness stays high but hes so hard to use at high level. I think your right plainodd... With Ness you must do uair/dair spamming to succeed. Just like falcon's uair spamming.

About Samus... She is also very good at edge situations.

All chars can edgegaurd if you know how to abuse their high priority attacks.

i think Utilt maybe Ness's fav spam move :D

Pika and Ness seem to be the spam characters, though, Pika seems to be less spam then Ness but has some of the best recovery in the game.

In terms of edgeguarding, Pika usually ends up spamming Down B until they just give up and fall of the map... With Ness, I never thought of him as an Edgeguard character.

I'm sticking with my Jiggly. :p

lol @ Pika's down+b spam until they give up...
Did you ever know about mindgames and recovery tricks?

Ness is good edgeguarding. has the yoyo and the spike... a little risky if you go far away and use the double jump, because Ness' recovery sucks. You can use the yoyo if you don't want to risk.

lol, pika's best edgeguard moves are the aerials and sometimes the side smash

i really hate ness' up tilt, the only way to avoid it is with pika or fox, or spamming projectiles

I largely disagree with Samus only comboing 2-3 hits. A platform grants a lot of comboing through down-air where you can smack then by d-airing while going below the platform then jumping back above the platform while the opponent techs. Walls also grant much comboing ability as well.

Well, if you are talking about an open, flat zone, in theory, Samus may have crappy combos but name a good stage that doesn't have platforms or walls. Can't think of bad stages without platforms or walls either.

You guys make Samus sound like a **** character but really she can kick lots of butt especially against people who have no matchup experience against Samus.

If you are going to complain about a high short hop you obviously haven't seen Samus attack while short hopping up and again while coming down. Down air to Back air is a great killer or "combo" that often takes people off the stage for an edgeguard attempt (Samus like most is a good edgeguarder). You may say that Samus has only a few select combos but this single combo is very versatile. There is almost no situation where a shielded down-air except for Yoshi parry will get Samus punished.

With that said Samus probably belongs to the bottom in a very very small margin.

Captain Falcon is a dangerous character but the characters above him eclipse him greatly by character standards. Kirby's amazing up-tilt, probably the best overall move in the game, wreaks Falcon. Kirby's up tilt is similar to Ness's and Pikachu's uptilt without the after move delay (Pikachu to a lesser but still noticable degree, note that Kirby can still get punished for up-tilting by skilled players). Pikachu also destroys Falcon and his recovery is also great.

Overall, Falcon is great at killing but he is also good at getting killed. Pikachu is better than Falcon at killing and is harder to kill.

Ness's up tilt is ridiculously easy to punish... try this. Double jump above Ness and quick fall next to a up-tilt abusing Ness. By now he should have up-tilted and now he is completely open for whatever you want. hard to explain but if you need a visual picture, just face me with Ness and see what happens

Pika and ness are not even close to be the spam characters in this game if you compare them to Kirby.

i use Spam because by definition Spam simply means repeated and unnecessary...using 18 Utilts when you only need 1 fits that description xP

and CB your points are all very nice but everything you say about samus, is true for allmost every char (with easy combos on platforms) and the two attacks during a short hop does not really make up for how generaly slow she is...i can use the same counter point you use agesnt ness's Utilt...vs samus xP

I'm gonna say luigi is the worst because
1: his fireballs are trash, plain and simple. easily the worst range move in the game
2: dash attack easily the worst in the game
3: slow both on ground and in the air
4: his big KO move, the ping, is predictable and leaves him extremely vulnerable. Even using the dair into Z-cancel Up-B can be shielded.

I've seen every other character played competitively but have never seen a good luigi. He's really just a nerf'd mario with a novelty Up-B

I have issues with Luigi and Jigglypuff, but I'm not good as Jigglypuff in any game. So I think that might just be a personal problem.

there is no worse character each character has their own disadvantage.
it all depends on the player. i mean a low tier set up vs a god tier like samus and falcon. if samus was a good player but falcon was average. samus would pwn the falcon. i don't know how to explain this well.

if samus and falcon were even level...falcon would win.
