So I read about the issues with wireless controllers and I was wondering if tournament organizers can simply solve this by holding down the Wii U's sync button for 15 seconds

I'm not sure, but I am one who uses a wireless controller and I have no Game Cube controller to get the feel for that. So I feel that if wireless controllers aren't allowed in tournaments, this is going to affect how I play.
