You don't remember that Nintendo stated that Wii games will not retail for more than 50 dollars in E3 2006?
I also remember them stating stuff like this in pre-launch:

1) The Wii will be priced "under $200"... Except that it's not.
2) All Wii titles will support progressive scan... Except that quite a few don't.
3) All Wii titles will support 16x9... Except that again, quite a few don't.
4) The Wii will support 802.11b and 802.11g... But many reports say it's 802.11b only.
5) The Wii will have full online capabilities... Well, maybe someday.
6?) The Wii will be "comparable" to other consoles of the same generation, only without the HD support... I won't deny that the Wii is fun, but I'm not deluding myself in how much power is under the hood.

Do you see where I'm going with this yet?

Most sites are already presenting their pre-order pricing which I've rarely seen change.

Metroid Prime 3 was $50 American. Mario Galaxy is going to be $50 American. Brawl will follow this standard price. Why would they even have to raise it anyway? Considering that Melee is the best selling game on Gamecube, Nintendo should be happy to sell this one for the standard price, knowing that it'll sell so well.

why do you guys bother paying for the real game?
Because piracy, is just bad.

And when you preorder games at most places, you are jsut paying 5 dollars upfront to guarantee the store your business when the game is released, and then the game will cost 44.99 plus tax when you go to pick it up. I don't think there is much question here, it's no GHIII, I've already preordered it and they told me 44.99 is what i'll owe when it comes out...

I mean, if you don't want to pay the 50 dollars, you could do something else, like kidnapping for instance. Quite lucrative if you don't get caught I hear. Oh! And you could pirate ships too, and pay for it with your booty. OR! You could just win the lottery. Whichever you prefer.

But then theres the tax. There are probably more dasterdly things you could do to cover that too. Be creative!

I'd pay fifty bucks and tax for my state, and that's it.
You guys are crazy for wanting to get a game for over one-hundred. I really want this game too, but I'm not crazy about it...

They're joking, because the game would be worth that much. This thread could probably be closed in my oppinion. There's really no arguing the price of the game. It's a fact at this point..

That's the point. Because it will sell so well and have so many features, it's fiscally sound for it to sell for $60 USD. There's also this to consider - if it's supposed to be $50, then they had plenty of opportunity to change this bit of information to reflect that, especially when the launch date changed.

I don't see why else they would bother putting a "TBD" there unless they were considering a US mark up.
