You mean add a bulky attachment to the bottom of the remote? Sorry, but swinging around a 10 pound controller doesn't strike me as fun.

Valid point, Nintendo needs to think about how to make the controller lightweight and filled with features.

Hmm... it actually may be something along the gyro-rumble line. Think waaaay back when, I remember this-or-that executive saying something along the lines of "Touching is good, feeling is better" (when relating the DS to the Revolution). That's all I've got to add though, I'm still in the "let's just wait and see" boat.

Yeah, that does sound logical, but I agree with what McFox said on the last page, if it's just some souped-up rumble feature, I'd definitely feel cheated. I think Miyamoto or Iwata, whoever said it, wouldn't make that big of a deal out of it, because that would obviously be a dissapointment.

Looking at the mock-up, if they DID have the gyro, it would have to be right under the Home button. Which means it would be under the "battery hatch."

Can anyone think of why the Revmote would need a battery hatch that long? The Wavebird runs on 2 AA batteries...

A rumble-type accessory wouldn't work in any case, cause wherever the Gyro was located would be the point of maximum force. a tiny gyro at the center could give just as much force as a 10-pound one on the end.

Actually, I have seen a picture for a Revolution exclusive game:"Raid over the River". Google it.
I have also learned of the graphic possiblities. You may be surprised. While using Google news, I came across an article about a couple of patents that nintendo has made. One of which is a displacement mapping. I don't know the full detail but to find out yourself just search on Google News:"Nintendo Revolution" with/and/or "displacement mapping patent". I use google news search everyday to learn more about the revolution. I suggest you all to do the same.
But according to the article, it is possible for the revo to EQUAL or SURPASS the graphic cappabilites that of the Xbox 360 using less power. That, my friends, is smart.

This whole thread is music to my ears. I just can't wait! I've heard also from a reliable source that the revolution may just well be released at $99 or $150!!! Can't wait for my everyday smash tourneys.......Just a quick question though. Will you need a wireless network to be able to use Wi-Fi at home? I have one I'm just wondering for the sake of my buddies. I'm just asking 'cause I'm pretty sure that's how it's going to work with Wi-Fi DS.

Raid over the River is being loosely constructed on the PC until the studio (NIBRIS) can find a publisher and get dev kits. Then, it will come to Revolution as an exclusive. Any "screenshots" you've seen are either for the PC or the concept art of the game.

...

Oh, and for those of you who haven't read this article, read it now: Metroid Prime 3 leak?

We can wish...

And according to developers, it's not.

Elbow, the Rev will be atleast $200. Why would Nintendo launched a new console cheaper than the DS that went for $150 at launch? Technology costs money, which is what Nintendo is in the business to make. Also, to go online you'll need a wireless router, just like with the DS. For local wireless LAN, you won't.

I'm too lazy to read so I just looked at the pics. I'll read it later though.

The first one doesn't look very "real" to me but the second one (with the exception of the green thing) looks pretty convincing.

I guess you're right Cashed. I never thought that through. I guess the info wasn't so reliable after all.....
another quick question....How long will the local wireless LAN reach?

Software houses we spoke with also waxed on the immediate advantage to Nintendo's approach with Revolution, which is, of course, system price. Every developer was in agreement that Revolution should launch with a price tag of $149 or lower. Some speculated that based on the tech, a $99 price point would not be out of the question.

By the way: I believe the first post on this thread needs a serious update!

Every developer was in agreement. Developers don't set the price of a system. If Nintendo can make a profit on something they are going to.

Nintendo will most likely agree though....they're saying that they don't want to compete with xbox360. They want to make a system affordable to most consumers.

I'm also pretty sure Nintendo said somewhere that the Rev would also be compatable with the DS's wifi USB adapter.

And as for the DS/Rev price comparison... by the time the Rev comes out, the DS will have been on shelves for 2 years. A price reduction on the part of the handheld could well be planned to make way for the $99-$149 console.

Most wireless stuff Nintendo has offered in the past has been 30 feet, so I'd guess around there.

I thought that was really neat, especially the Mario Sunshine "demo." I originally thought it'd be hart to control a game like that but the video made it look pretty easy. Just can't wait to see how Nintendo really will use this thing...

Though it was unofficial it gives a good idea of what can be done with the control. I liked how you have true freedom while dual weilding guns allowing you to shoot two objects at once. I too was impressed with the control idea of mario sunshine, it actually looks like itd be really fun to play. I didnt even think about controlling F-zero like the demo showed, thats actually pretty cool.

I have pictures of a steering wheel adater for the controller. I'd load them but their at school and i'm on Christmas break so..yeah.....I'll load them as soon as possible.

This steering wheel, I thought, would be cool for F-Zero because you could jerk the steering side to side for side-attacks. For spin attacks, I dunno, maybe a button press or something. There's a steering wheel w/pedals and w/o. Star Fox would be fun if you could steer with the nunchuck and shoot with the Controller. Smash Bros. still has me in wonder. But my favriot is still the fishing rod! :chuckle: No wait! Star Fox should be played with the gun adapter! I dunno how But just try and imagine a way!

Here's the source.

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has all but confirmed that the Nintendo Revolution will be the least costly of the three competing next-generation game systems by stating that the console will retail for less than the Xbox 360 core system which currently retails for $299 in the United States.

By revealing this information in an interview with Yahoo! Japan, Iwata fulfilled the expectations of many industry analysts who believe that the Revolution's focus on its innnovative control system rather than cutting-edge graphics and processing power would lead to a lower price point than its Sony and Microsoft competitors.

Well, I think this was to be expected, and is good news to anyone interested in Revolution. As has been stated, Nintendo is not trying to compete in the same market as PS3 and Xbox 360, but rather complement and supplement those systems. For this plan to work, Revolution has to be affordable, have third party support, and the gameplay needs to appeal to more people. ATM, at least around where I live, people aren't too high on the Revolution because they fear change. Hopefully Nintendo will satisfy everyone at E3, 2006.

Just FYI, Yahoo has removed the interview and Nintendo are now "neither confirming nor denying" the valadity of the interview.

Anyway....

Well if anyone want's to use the new controller for a PS2 game, they can. Hooray for originality!

SplitFish GameWare showed off a truly funky PlayStation 2 controller that feels more than a little like the mysterious Nintendo Revolution controller. The DualFX Controller is a two-piece PS2 controller with tethered halves: a gun trigger and an odd laser movement system. The left half of the controller is a fairly average analog stick with a D-pad and shoulder buttons, similar to the left side of a standard PS2 controller. The right half, however, is a gunlike device with a laser pointer. The laser tracks movement in the controller and lets players actively aim in first-person shooters. The laser system proved very inconsistent in hands-on tests, but it is, at the very least, an interesting approach. The DualFX will start shipping in March and will cost about $60.

Seriously, what can you say but "Ew"

That does bring up a fair question in my mind though... if something junky like that costs $60, how much will a normal Rev controller go for?

Who knows? Nintendo still haven't revealed everything about the controller, so it could have a laser pointer and shoot nerf darts for all we know.

That would be kinda cool actually.....

Nintendo has announced a partnership with Nerf.
"Every controller will be able to shoot nerf darts!", Ninendo President Satoru Iwata happily proclaims. "We want people to think of nintendo even when there's a power outage, or are camping, or anywhere with no electricity! Each System will come with a few different rule books for different games with nerf guns. Systems will also come with a limited edition touch screen notepad for keepin score and coming up with your own games. No more cumbersome pencil lead, ink, or paper for our customers!"
oh boy, wouldn't that just take the cake?
