I think that the Wii has been out long enough to start thinking about the next gen console, with the unofficial name Wii 2...
First of all I should state my view on how/when it's gonna come... We are almost in 2009 and many people believe that the current Wii has been such a huge success that will propably last until 2013-2016... As i see things though although it has taken control of the market with much higher sales than the other systems, it has released most good franchises like mario galaxy, SSBB, Zelda: TP, MP3, pokemon battle revolution, warioware and wario land.... and most of these franchises are used to one-release like super mario who had only one 3D for 64 and 1 for gamecube (Sunshine) or SSB therefore we cant expect much more for the wii... Also although 2008 hasnt had many good games having most of the titles i mentioned being released on 2007 the wii has still remained far ahead on the market. This means that the next few years which I personally expect to be much higher since many titles like a mario galaxy sequel, pikmin 3, new zelda and enhanced re-releases of gamecube popular titles that many people have missed (because they didnt have a gamecube, or werent interested at first and when they became popular it was quite to late or something) will top nintendo... Unfortunately though Nintendo's system may have some nice motion-sensing capabilities but hardware-wise sucks..... For example when Brawl was released many people who had their Launch-Wiis experienced problems with their disc drives that couldnt read the double layered game threfore had to be repaired (Yes that WAS actually the problem since it happened to me and after i got my wii back and it work they told me that the disc drive was actually replaced)... Wiis graphics, CPU, Internet services etc are not to be compared with 360 or PS3 but rather with past-gen consoles like the original XBox.... I have always been a fan of nintendo and it really disapointed me that they couldnt bother putting some hardware good enough TO AT LEAST READ THEIR OWN GAMES! The point of all this is that due to their titles running out and the system's limitations the wii will propably be replaced by 2011 or 2012 at the latest... Besides since by that point the wii as i said earlier will have prob been topped it would be a good idea to completely dominate the market by jumping to the next gen with a much better system... And it has been hinted by nintendo themselves that the next consoles is ALREADY at works proving that my theory will prob be right...
Now, to wat do we expect/want?
The motion sensing idea the entire thing was based on considering the wiimote, nunchuck, wiibalanceboard and most of the hardware in general was propably the source of its success seeing how it lacked most of other plus...
We'd expect and want a controler with much more accurate readings, easier to handle and definetely a wire-less nunchuck?
Definetely better hard-ware, not enough just to play their games (and they couldnt even do this one with the wii) but make sure that it will be equal to the other next-gen consoles and far-ahead than its own "requirements" for its entire lifespan...
Another thing that ive read on the net checking for this topic was ideas of brainsensing? lolz, at first i thought that would be impossible, it would require at least 10 more years to move to that technology..... but then i found out that some companies have already made games using brainwaves and that there has been much progress on this technology.....ofc i still believe that they cant base the entire console and all of their games on that since it would take much much longer for releases and make things so much harder...... but by 2012 it would definetely be fine to release something like that much the way they released the balanc board with only a few games....
and last but not least is the laggy internet problem..... not only it makes playing with friends so much harder but the wiiconnect24 idea sucks big time at some parts.... for example i understand that some countries cant have channels like weatherforecast, news, votes etc....but buying virtual console games is by no means limited to those countries..... right now as it is almost everyone can still use that service just by changing their country and this means that the only limitation to buy such games or some other channels other the type i mentioned is that they cant have points... WRONG! i have friends that linked it to their nintendo account they made (with altered country as well) that added starts and then changed them for wii points... with all this granted then i dont see why this service should be limited....remove this channel from the ones that need wiiconnect24 and make it easier for those people to get some points to spend... example: easier to buy the points digitally with credit card without needing an account, selling cards for wii points in all countries at video-game-shops just s they do with actual games etc....
thats all i want to see, propably everyone here does as well, and we hopefully we will for the near future! feel free to post ur ideas and comments, including the negative ones
