What word would be better than "consistent"? Part of the issue is that equipment has RNG stat changes. If these results were consistent, we could at least have slightly more consistent tournament results with it.

Looks like there's no use reasoning with you; you'll just shout "consistent" all day not caring what it actually means. Have fun with that.

Actually we do.

The issue with equipment is the stats are random. This isn't league with crits, which you have to build for that chance, this is smash where that opportunity isn't fairly distributed.

It is determined by RNG what you get, but each type of equipment has min and max stat change, and there's a finite number of extra bonuses. Do all the math, and there's just around a 1/40000 chance to get the specific piece of equipment you want (I am not factoring in custom moves though). Compare that to Pokemon, that has 32 options in each stat determined by RNG, resulting in over a billion different combinations, and 6 pokemon per team resulting in over 6 billion combinations. I say that somebody wanting to host a wii U tournament featuring equipment, but isn't willing to put in a couple months harvesting the equipment (there's about 90 affects, 7 have to do with food, 18 are negative, we'll probably ban about 10 of them

You get the point, in total, there's only about 150ish pieces of equipment that really matter, surely if someone is willing to put in the work to get all of them, they should be allowed to host a tournament around equipment. This is obviously not something that will happen any time soon

you know what, it really doesn't matter. The smash community has been spoiled to death by Sakurai's "pick up and play" style, and when he finally introduces a system that requires a bit of grinding, you blow your gasket. And yet, as hypocritical as that is when compared to all the hate Sakurai gets, I'm still going to keep playing.

The customization equipment brings just makes the game more fun (except exploding perfect shield). Forgive us if we wanted to try to make a competitive scene out of it.

Maybe 1 day they'll do the sensible thing and let you buy equipment with all those gold things we have nothing to do with
