Yeah, Wind Waker easily has the best expressions in any Zelda game. I think that the expresions are a prominent feature in order to make up for another department. I want to say the style of WW? Not too sure.Wind Waker Link was pretty much intentionally made more expressive and given his own personality to go along with his "NOT ACTUALLY A PROPER LINK DESCENDANT" nature. He's just a kid that wants to save his sister.
The coolest thing about Wind Waker for me, well, one of them, is how if you stand around trying to figure out what to do next in a dungeon, Link's big eyes will look off toward a key puzzle component. A very nice touch.
