It can feel pretty ****** to kill your teammate by accident and it may cost the match. Is there a particular reason it is enabled?

Because leaving it off results in many many downright broken team combos.

That and it also forces players to be more aware of what they’re doing.

Also team attack on gives players the ability for some amazing teamate saves, such as deliberately footstooling their partner after they were hit by a huge knockback attack that would normally ko them, or hitting them with a strong enough attack in the opposite direction they were originally going to, or using a weak attack to refresh their partners up special to give them another shot at recovery.

In the end team attack on helps prevent some of the more ridiculous team combos, while also forcing players to be more aware of what they’re doing, while also giving them the ability to save their teammate.

It can also have your teammate be completely clueless that they are in a team battle and deliberately trying to KO you hahaha. I've had that happen twice to me.

I understand why it's on and I don't think I disagree with it. It does feel rather unfair to characters with large hitboxes like :ultike: and :ultganondorf: and such, though, as it's much easier to hit a teammate with large attacks.

While I completely agree with the ruleset, it would be super entertaining to see a few tournaments with it turned off and just let everyone go HAM with the most broken strats they can think of.

Have you ever seen a falco press B and then a flaco press B like 30 frames later, and they both just spam the B button? You literally can't approach without you or your partner taking like 30% just to approach, only to be stuffed out because a falco did an aerial while the other covered ground with laser? You ever see that? Ever seen 2 Young Links do the same thing? I have. This is one of the most obvious reasons Tourny play required team attack.

The other reason is because now you have to be mindful of your partner, and strategically coordinate with not only your opponent's neutral, but your partners. Not to mention, by having team attack on, you can also help your partner recover by going off stage to hit them toward it. These implications increase the skill level required to call yourself good in doubles, whereas not having team attack promotes the same old neutral b spam setups with virtually every team that can do it.

Go set up a public arena, 2 v 2, team damage off. Within an hour you will probably run into a broken team combo.
