They should have called the modes "For Lag" and "For Less Lag"

lol. I tried to do 2 vs 2 a few times and it was hellish beyond. 4 for all was a joke.

This is why stage hazards/items need to be toggled.

Want omega without items? For Glory. Want stages without items and hazards? For Serious.

Sad thing is I've yet to enjoy all of the stages multiple times. My life is so flat in Smash now. FG is seriously, NOT FUN.

Because... you're fighting for glory?
I dunno. I guess recognition from other players that you are fighting against has to do something with it. I bet that you won't forget facing a really tough opponent.

Yea I stay out of For Glory, I like the for fun option more. When I play with friends, I like to be a little more competitive.

I stick to For Glory for 1v1, and For Fun for teams, since I'm not going to entrust my record to randomized teammates and higher lag chances.

I generally jump between both for fun and for glory, but I generally stick with 1v1 matches.

You can be competitive in For Glory. In fact, that is the very purpose of the mode. Unless you are one of those people who hate FD.

I wouldn't say I hate FD, I just hate how shaky and nervous I get when I play 1v1 for glory matches. when I play with a friend competitively I don't get that feeling.

Because Nintendo wasn't allowed to say "For your mother."

Seriously though, because it's jut for rankings

I would recommend trying to play at a different time of day. I've found that depending on when I play, the difficulty of my opponents seems to vary widely. It could just be a coincidence, but every time I've played super late at night (~2 a.m. Eastern time zone), my opponents have been really good on average. Same goes for people's complaints about overuse of Little Mac. I went 100 battles only seeing 2-3 LM's, because I usually play late at night. Captain Falcon has by far been my most common opponent, followed by ZSS. Again, this could just be luck, but if the game's matchmaking prioritizes people in your region (which I think it might, given my opponents' names), then it makes sense. Late at night you don't get the younger kids playing. My late-night win rate is about 50%. When I play earlier in the evening, I often have near 100% win rate.

Regardless, I just don't get the complaints that FG is too easy. I feel like either people are really unlucky with their matchups or they're really good. Obviously this is not going to be tournament level play, but I've been generally impressed by FG players. I think the name For Glory is well-deserved. Obviously the mode isn't perfect, but it's leagues better than any competitive options we've had in the past.

I can back this up. If I play during the day (presumably when all the kids are in school) I get a decent mix of opponents and my win rate is about 60%. Same for late at night. On the other hand, playing during the evening is easy mode.

I think FG is great for learning new characters. Without the Wii U version I can't do all of the experiments that I want to do, so FG is really my only way to get better. That said there's always going to be a point where you've learned so much more than the average player that almost none of the FG crowd can really touch you, aside from the rare good player who is just as dedicated and skilled as you are.

It really is 'just as skilled' and not 'more skilled than you', though. At first I had trouble against certain matchups, but in the last couple of weeks I've met maybe one player who was hands-down better than me in FG. Others who have beaten me in one match would lose the next two, possibly even getting 2 stocked for the last match.

I also lose against the few SWF members I've played against, so it's not like I'm some amazing player. The guys in FG are often just bad.

Because its very glorious.
No, most likely because of the rankings. Which is why they should also have a leaderboard. But that would make too much sense for Nintendo to do with online.

For Glory really is a misnomer. The glory one would receive from playing is useless since there aren't actually any leaderboards. And I still have no idea where to find my actual Global Smash Power

I hear you, but it's not the difficulty I'm talking about. Challenge is fun and what I look forward to. The problem lies within the players. I can still play against skilled players... but they're either highly skilled in spamming or running away. Cowards annoy me.
