I went to McDonalds every week so I can go play Melee over by the Gamecube section and my mom saw that I really loved the game. For my 7th Birthday my brother bought me a Gamecube with Melee and I cried and hugged him. It was honestly the best present :) I played all day and night to the point where I started to pick up some techniques and I thought I was good, I was sadly mistaken. I took a break from smash until the Documentary came out and inspired me to try and become the best at the game. Its a learning experience everyday :)

I can't exactly remember when I first played Smash 64, but it was before Melee came out. I remember being so hyped for Melee at the ripe age of 7. Low and behold, on Christmas Day 2001, my guardian got me a Gamecube and Luigi's Mansion, with my uncle giving me Melee.
Ah, a blessed time.
I also remember anxiously waiting for Brawl to come out and I think I have played that game more than any other game ever.

I still remember the day we got Melee... Not long before I played it at my cousins and I basically dubbed it 'best game ever'. I've been playing ever since, and I recently got into the more competitive side of things.

Unlike a lot of people here. I've played Smash, but have never owned it (I've never owned a home console in my life, it has always been portable). Heck the only reason I got in Smash was due to my DS Lite breaking and having to get a 3DS (among other things). I put two together and then hype. So if anything, this will be my first experience playing Smash.

I hope it's a good one. To be honest I'm considering getting the 3DS just to get a better understanding of exactly how a game like Smash will work on a portable console, I'm still getting my head around it really. ^^;

Seeing the commercial for smash 64 blew my f***ing mind when I was about 9 or 10 but I wasn't able to get it (until I was much older), but I recall playing melee one time at a sleepover at my neighbors house (because everyone that didn't get everything they wanted as a child had that one friend with every new video game console/toy/game/etc) and I was hooked. I was probably annoying everyone because they wanted to play Luigi's Mansion and Tony Hawks Pro Skater 4 but I wanted to stay on Melee until the sun came up. Somehow I ended up with a gamecube around 2003 and the rest was history. I put more hours into Melee than anything and my friend and I would do 99 stock matches with level 9 cpus. I was unaware how noobish I was but it didn't matter. The fact that the game had characters from some of my favorite games ever was more than enough to make me want to unlock every possible thing ever and then some. Fast forward to today and I love the game just as much if not more nowadays. I keep playing because I want to take my skills to the next level and compete.

I've enjoyed Super Smash Bros since I played it with my friends on the N64.
I'm not into other fighting games where you need to memorize 30-hit combos to be an average player.

Hmm, lets see. I played the game for fun starting with Smash 64, I loved the game because pikachu was in it and I just loved playing it with my friends. The second I discovered the competitive scene, sometime during the middle of melee, all things went down hill. Smashers tend to play the game 24/7, and reference the game in daily activities. I almost started to hate the game because of this and took a huge break, but now I decided to play again for fun and maybe a little competitive. I wouldn't label myself as a "smasher", I do not live and breath the game, I do not work in construction and I do play other games. I play street fighter but no one referred to me as some street guy.

Aside from schoolwork, I don't have anything more important to do with my time.
I spend enough time alone indoors, and I don't believe it's healthy.
Furthermore, what separates Project M from the rest of the games I play are the Smashers I know.
In all of my other games, I don't have an established group of people or friends to regularly enjoy the games with.

Several years ago I had a Nintendo 64 with a SSB64 cartridge. It was probably the most played game out of probably 5 (SSB64, Diddy Kong Racing, Rayman 2 and some others). I eventually upgraded to emulating SSB64 on the PC. Eventually (or actually, rather recently) I got Melee and Brawl and emulated them also, after hearing that Mr. Game & Watch was in them (a relatively unknown 2D character with exetremly limited animation from very basic 1980s handhelds being in a modern fighting game among characters like Mario won my interest). I probably would have been on 64 forever had I not learned of Mr. Game & Watch being a character.

I've always loved the concept of crossovers. I was just 3 or 4 when the smash64 commercial came out and to me that was literally a dream come true. I joined this forum when I was only 13 and saw the love that everyone else had for a game and I knew this is where I belonged. I'm 20 now and my love has only increased.

I started playing in 2011-2012. I had never actually played Melee, only 64. So, when I moved in with some friends, and our roommates played, I joined in. And man, I got WHOOPED. Every time I got spanked. Eventually, I got better than a couple of our homies. But I kind of plateaued there. And I wasn't sure why. So I started thinking "How can I get better than Elzy?" I've played competitive MtG my entire high school career, and for a while was involved in competitive Pokemon tournaments. I've learned that just about anything has a competitive scene at some point or another. And when I looked for competitive smash...oh boy. I was not prepared for what I found. As luck would have it, KoC2 had just happened the week prior, so I watched everything I could. I went back and watched every commentated match I could get my hands on. I listened, and I watched, and I read, and I learned. I learned so much. And now that I'm part of this incredible community, I'll never leave it. Smash is in my blood now.

Oh, and I finally got to play that old roommate again. Easiest 10 bucks of my life.

Smash is one of the few things that I know I can always look forward to. It's a consistently awesome game series and the hype leading up to a new game is like no other series to me. Heck, there's really nothing that hypes me up as much. That's why I forever love the series.

I started playing smash 64 as a kid, then I had to sell my 64. Then as a kid I played melee and thought I was the best in the world because I could beat my sister and her boyfriend. Then came brawl and I thought it was sooooooo good. Then I got older and figured out how competitive smash works. Then I went to melee, then found PM and stuck with it. It's something that keeps me and my friends together and we like playing it and as Wife said in the smash brothers documentary, it lets us be someone. I can say proudly at school that me and my friends go to tournaments for this, and people seem to respect me for that. Not to mention it lets you express what characters you like. It seems all my characters don't have enough of their games, that may just be me, but this way I can just play as them more. Either way, smash will never die

It seems that just about everyone has played, liked or at least heard of Smash Bros in my school, except for my best friends, who only talk about Garry's Mod and Dota 2. That doesn't stop me from socialising with people that do really like Smash Bros though.
