replicate, just because M2K isn't comfortable fighting jigglypuff doesn't mean he sucks at it. The Pound 3 set proved that. He went toe-to-toe with the best player in the world who so happens to use jigglypuff. M2K didn't lose to mango because he used puff, he lost because mango played better.

When they say M2K plays robotically, they mean he never messes up. That's not an indictment on his play style, though. His play style is by far the smartest in melee; I don't get why you're acting like that's like a bad thing.

pocky, I wouldn't call ICs a legitimate character. they're pretty bad

I was talking about his marth only, he does great vs. jiggs with his fox.

I don't say "robotic" like it's a bad thing, it just doesn't work as well vs. puff as it does with space animals or other high tiers. Of course he's the smartest/best player in melee, you're misconstruing me a bit.

My last post was actually OK, though; I addressed a lot of these things (I think) pretty well.

And as far as bad matchups go, marth vs luigi is FÜCKED (and luigi MUST be viable becuz ka-master is teh ****, amirite?!!1)

okay yeah i see what you're saying. i would agree it doesn't work as well against jigglypuff. marth can only effectively chip and chip while if jigglypuff hits once it's ****, and she has a **** sure kill move.

how is luigi v marth so ****ed? i'm not good at the matchup =/

marth and luigi are both really floaty, and since marth has ridiculous range over luigi he can combo him anywhere he wants, plus it is **** hard to approach him
luigi's recovery doesn't help either

i disagree with some of that (from what i know):

- wavedash to ftilt punishes a lot of marth's whiffes / imperfectly spaced attacks

- luigi's grab game on marth is fairly harsh, especially compared to what marth can (or, more accurately, can't) do to luigi out of grabs

luigi's lack of air control combined with his floatiness makes it super-rough for him once he gets in the air

while marth won't have great true throw-combos vs luigi, a simple uthrow can lead to a world of hurt

ftilt is almost the only move that can hit marth, and marth's fairs combo luigi so well it's unfair
luigi's grab game isn't terribly good against a marth; he can basically upthrow or downthrow into a fair or maybe backthrow and try to edgeguard, but it's not like a huge advantage when marth can stop your approaches, grab you once you're in range, then throw you back out again

At FCD I heard that BoA challenged every luigi player to beat him in MMs or something, and nobody could do it

DJ Combo can probably beat any luigi too, even though he's not known to be a fantastic player

personally, I have a lot of trouble with the matchup (back when I played luigi more)--it can be insanely frustrating


I'm not a luigi expert, but the matchup is pretty broken

i remember ROFL saying luigi has a pseudo-chain grab on marth if they DI wrong. a fair or dair is guaranteed i believe. it can also lead into tech chase to dsmash. and most importantly, fair and dair are reliably strong killing moves, moves that marth doesn't have on luigi. those advantages alone don't close the gap but my point is they definitely make it managable. ka has to a certain extent shown how to utilize luigi to close the gap on a lot of matchups, mostly with aggressive shield pressure via superior spacing and crisp edge guarding.

and it only matters because we're comparing it to stuff like fox-jiggs. fox is camp, laser laser laser, do 50% of damage and uthrow to uair for the kill. jigglypuff has to play perfectly to even have a shot, and even if she does she can still get ***** since he's nearly ungrabable and four moves put her in killing range.

i think dj combo's amazing at smash and really underrated so i'm giving him more credit for just being good at the game rather than just mastering the matchup to such perfection that with such a blueprint any luigi will be helpless

i believe he used fox on sliq/azen and falco against everyone excluding chu/cort/pc/m2k
and in teams he used fox with forward and took m2k/azen to a 2nd set
