Some characters are popular because they're competitive viable, they're fun to use, or simply because they're a huge fan-favorite (EX; :ultkrool:, :ultridley:, :ultfalcon:, :ultwolf:, etc.)

Whiling others are either disliked/hated, forgotten or underestimated.

Why do so many people call Lucario anti-competitive? So he gets stronger when he's hurt. That doesn't "reward you for losing", it makes it easier for you to turn around a match that's not going in your favor. News flash; it's not fun to spend the first half of a match getting outplayed at every turn and feel like you have absolutely no hope of coming back from last place to win.

Rosaluma: She was added for moveset potential, and it's creative and glorious.
Palutena: She's underestimated for being mediocre in Smash 4, but low she is (literally) godly.
PAC-MAN: Bamco helped make Smash. This is a thank you gift to them.
Robin: Somewhat creative FE rep with an annoying weapon degrading mechanic. Although Awakening certainly doesn't deserve 3 fighters, Robin is not the biggest offender.
Shulk: Because Xenoblade is cool, and should have a fighter regardless of what you think (this isn't directed toward any specific one).
Bowser Jr.: Ok, I get it. The clown car is dumb. But haing the Koopalings, as well as a creative moveset, is awesome.
Incineroar: Oh, I'm sorry? You're salty it wasn't someone else? Get over it. Incineroar is cool.

R.O.B. Poor lad doesn't even have a stage to call home. That's how you know he's forgotten.

My votes go to the Miis, Robin, Dark Pit (who for some reason isn’t in the poll so I voted for Chrom in his place), Olimar, and Wii Fit Trainer.
The Miis especially because they represent true avatar characters that many people can create and get attached to. I get that lots of people see more appeal in predefined characters, but I don’t think that justifies all the hate toward them.

Glad to see my boy :ultgnw: at the top he's the "tier-lists are for scrubs" OG. And here in Ultimate he just teleports around the stage like a mad man

Poor Game and Watch finally got to a point where he was at least playable and able to compete in 4, only to be nerfed into oblivion in Ultimate. His attacks are all slower, weaker, and shorter than almost the entire cast. After several hours playing against several different Young Links and FE characters, I am convinced the Smash team thinks G&W is a joke in this game. Young Link in particular is so vastly superior to him it makes me want to stop playing entirely. It just hurts, man.

Not going to lie, I've seen some yoshi's tearing it up in ultimate. Could be just me, but i think yoshi is very impressive compared to the past titles. Not sure what he is on most tier rankings but the highest i've seen him was at low B tier

My top five most forgotten useless trash tier throw them all in the garbage characters:
1. R.O.B. Ive never met him online nor in any fun tournament. He is extremey disliked it seems. Not even i pick him up, he looks so bland.
Atleast the rest of the characters im about to list are played by people but i find them so bland and forgettable, i wouldnt even notice if they disappeared.
2. Corrin. Zzzzzzz.
3. Lucina. Really.. couldnt this have been a palette swap of Marth?
4. Robin. You know, everytime i see this guy in the roster, he could have been a palette swap of another anime character and put there, thats how bland he is.
5. Pokemon Trainer. Oh boy, hes back again. Why not just make Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard their own character? I mean if they have no problem creating clones out of fire emblem characters, why should 3 more slots of pokemon be a problem?

I think you may have misread the thread title, my man.

Anyways, Roy is suddenly super popular now that he's good, but he used to get a lot of flak from the competitive community for being "the worst sword character". He has so much style and is fun to play, I'm glad he at least had a shot to have a top-tier player main him now.

I'm gonna go ahead and say :ultrobin:.

In all of the anti-Fire-Emblem sentiment due to Lucina being a clone for two games, Roy and Corrin being DLC and advertisement characters, then Chrom becoming the first clone-of-a-clone, Robin somehow gets lumped in despite having an entirely unique moveset, animations and general playstyle. She is absolutely nothing at all like her FE counterparts and is a fantastic representation of FE13 as a whole. Yet when I see "who should be removed" posts, people constantly remove Robin for some goddamn reason.

Like. Okay. You hate Fire Emblem. Cool. Don't pretend Robin is anything like Marth/Lucina/Roy/Chrom when trying to justify your distaste as anything other than that.

Incineroar. People can't get over the fact that he made it in as the last unique newcomer instead of Isaac or Geno or Banjo. I was mad to then, but it's time to get over it, he's one of the most fun characters in the game and has a moveset completely unique to him. A lot of his moves are like nothing in Smash so far like when he throws an opponent at the ropes. Plus Pokemon getting another rep is acceptable because of the number of unique fighters it contains.
