Which double short hop aerial do you prefer?

While looking through a bunch of posts I noticed that many people speak of short hop double aerialing as SHDF (short hop double Fairing). So I assumed that the majority prefer to throw out two Fairs rather than (this being the only other second aerial which I see as useful) a Fair into a Uair. I actually would rather land a Fair into a Uair do to the combo possibilities it sets up and I was wondering what all you other Marth users believe to be the more effective double aerial.

well usually i dont double aerial unless i hit with the first. If i just go around randomly double fairing i'm vulnerable as hell. But, if i hit with my first fair, i will just double fair because it can lead into another fair, an fsmash or a ken combo.

I rarely ever double Fair but when I do hit the 1st one I will do another. Just cus its eaiser and allways leads into something..

i usually just do two fairs at the sheild and then if one hits, i continue it with a smash or possibly ken combo. also, if you use the uair after a short hop fair, the spacing is going to be off and you will only be able to hit with a small range.

Lol tshahi, do you realise your post was almost word for word precicely what Jesiah said? xD Hehe, don't worry pal I don't mean anything by it.

I actually don't SHDF that much at all... Once every match at most, really. It's definantly something that I need to work on.

dude, shdf is good for comboing and shield pressuring sometimes, but as an approach its predictable and easily punishable. If i approach with an aerial, usually its a single fair and then if i hit i go from there. Basically, too many ppl/ new players approach with double fair just cuz they think its technical. It's kinda pointless, but...

What i've been working on lately is double fairing with the c-stick. It helps mad amounts, as in i dont ever get shieldgrabbed, and i can retreat the 2nd fair or both and become unapproachable. Try that out.

but all of this is my opinion, so a lot of others may disagree.

Your definantly correct about that C-stick thing. Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't that what most pro's suggest? So you can DI to a safer area... I have immence difficulty in using the C-stick for some odd reason. I have no idea why, I guess it's another thing I have to work on.

EDIT: Woops at double post...

And since i don't want to triple post, are there any vids of you around Jesiah? I really wanna see them :).

well, most pros/people just say to use what you feel comfortable with, and they usually say use c stick for the second fair, because you can control your DI and its hard to get your fingers moving fast enough to use cstick for both.

but, its possible and my spacing with fairs is immaculate now. But, i have problem comboing off of it. Like, when i use A i can combo better. idk why

I actually thought most people who double aerial used the c stick. Wow, to find that not many do is suprising, but you guys are definitely right about using it. If not for the c stick, SHDF wouldn't be worth using because you would become easily read. Oh, and as for c stick use, it's nothing but a matter of practice. It eventually becomes instinctual just like the timing of the second aerial.

I LOVE the double fair and Kizzu combo (i.e. fair to uair) they are the base of my game. I am skilled at chaining d-fairs into grabs and the possibilites are endless. The nair is pretty sexy too, but I gota love my fairs. ^^

WhiteOblv, you're saying you nair into a second aerial? Because if you are then I don't think that fits into a single SH.

Wow Hoshi yur sig makes it look alot more usefull than I thought it was.. (even though its still not something I would just sit there and pratice..) but mayb il pratice it between stocks now..haha..I guess the only reason I dont like it is because I feel slower, and more vulnerable..

Well, basically it depends on your opponent's DI. I mean, sure you can fair to uair, but don't go around thinking that you should do that all the time. Sometimes, if their percent is high enough, finish with a nair. Or, you should chain another fair instead of uairing. Or just land and Fsmash, y'know? Uair's are definitely good as crap, i'm just saying, combos are mostly situational dependent on your opponent's DI and percentage.

Anybody really try a SH fair then finish with a nair? It does work, it hits at low percentages AND it auto cancels. I've been trying it and the nair doesn't seem to do much after a fair. Just experimenting though, I don't think it is very practical yet. I would probably rather do another fair or uair though lol.

EDIT: Yes the nair doesn't fully do both hits, but the initial attack can hit.

I always prefer the fj ff double fairs since tippered shdf will only make them go higher. Nair is great for continuing combos, especially on semi-fastfallers like Sheik and Roy.
For future reference, the Fair to Uair is the Azen combo. Kizzu just used them in the Short hop.

Ive tried it before and it doesnt fully connect. Half *** nairs arent really my thing.
