opinions/criticism welcomed...

i like to use default lasers in matchups when I want to force an approach for a brief period of time. mainly in matchups where they can't crawl under them and when the opponent's character is evenly matched neutral game-wise. diddy is probably the best example i can think of. sheik as well only because she'll be more focused on charging her needles instead of crouching. or it's just great against slow fatties on bigger stages. or in most campy matchups

i like to use Impact Blaster against fast fallers and/or characters with linear recoveries. i like to use ftilt or fthrow on fast fallers to possibly get a laser lock with this laser... dont forget this works far past the percents when ftilt won't lock your opponent anymore (~35-40%). problem is the move is pretty easy to tech, so you'll have to react when to use the laser or not. the drawback is that fox using this move gives the opponent very little reason to approach him. so in campier matchups i think you'll want to avoid this move

i like to use charge blaster when i think i can trap the opponent on the ledge or keep them offstage well. it's also good to take note of the opponent's jump height off the ledge when using this move imo. this is my personal favorite one, but not so much in faster pace matchups when i don't want this move getting shieldgrabbed up close because my opponent is fast to close in.

from then on it's all about specific intricacies... which i dont really study on too much lol... ie: i think default laser beats up duckhuntdog's can? i dont remember lol

normal blaster loses to sheiks needle game if sheik does it right I think

For me, I like to use the normal blaster when I'm against an opponent who is slower than me (ie I can get away with shooting lasers)
against an opponent who is as fast or faster than fox (can punish lasers from mid range and sometimes even long range) I like impact blaster to help push them out and keep them away.

Larry likes normal lasers and impact lasers. I'm a fan of normal lasers and charge lasers. I like normal lasers for large stages and when playing keepaway since they are still safer than even a short hopped charge laser. They also have significantly more range. I also tend to prefer them for campy matchups in order to outcamp opponents (villagers, duck hunts, pac men, etc.) Although I'm likely sticking to normal lasers for a majority of EVO due to lack of practice with charge lasers, I will say charge laser is viable on smaller stages since it has good knockback, and it's lesser range means its better suited as an offensive tool. It can kill around 150% if you use it to intercept recoveries, so be liberal with it against people off stage. It has musch faster startup if you start it in the air, so you almost always want to short hop it. Lastly, Charge laser completely beats ROBs side be reflector for some dumb reason, probably a glitch or bad coding. So if you face a ROB, keep that in mind especially if they try to side b a lot.

Impact > Normal

I'm not sure but imo it seems impact lasers might be a broader hitbox than Falco's laser, meaning if they don't tech any move that would put them in tumble animation, it can be used to jab reset them leading into a free setup or grab, depending on your flavour of punishment.

I like the old blaster as it's the one we've had in all games, however it's just not as useful as in other games due to the 30 frames of endlag or so.
The charge laser is gimmicky at best, this thing worked for :wolf: due to the bayonet hitbox on his gun, but the charged blaster doesn't have that.

Hard as hell, but it is still possible to jump offstage and spam the gun in hopes of gimping, against characters like Ganon or Mac.

at evo the majority of my matchups i used charge blaster, mainly because i fought 2 good custom DK's.

i used impact blaster against a good sonic to beat spindash

and i also used charge blaster vs vin nie's sheik (name search prevention) and it worked to counteract bouncing fish once. i initially wanted to use impact to get laser locks. but as i said before, it's easy to tech ftilt or fthrow and i would rather hit em hard with a strong attack to cover the obvious tech

You sure the ROB didn't just mistime his arm rotor? I hear it doesn't reflect in the later frames.

Nice job at evo BC, you sure end up in the brackets a lot haha.

Well, in the end it's what's you're better with, and they are unfamiliar with, if it works it works, I've also had those fantasies of running b reversed charge blaster shots, and I've done them a few times, but as my own viewpoint on customs are eh then It's not something I practice with Fox.

Yay for people who tech in place instead of tech rolling

I'm not a big fan of customs, but when I've played with them, I find going mostly with Laser 1 or 3 and are mu dependent. I find 3 to be slightly better because KO potential, but gets shut off hard when the opponent can reflect/absorb/pocket it. 3 can hit crouching characters though.

MUs I prefer the regular lasers are Villager, Rosa, Mario, Ness, Wario. MUs I prefer 3 laser are Luigi, Wii Fit, Pikachu, DK.

Not much to say for laser 2: I don't find it as useful as the rapid fire or the pure power of the charge blaster.
