Where to buy copies of Melee in Australia?

I've recently been searching around with friends to try and get a few Melee setups together, and while it's not too hard to come by Gamecubes it seems that Melee copies are growing in scarcity. We've been scouring eBay, Gumtree, Cash Converters, GameTraders and local classifieds with no success in the past few days, excluding some $90 Platinum copies of Melee. While NTSC seems to be in abundance online, PAL seems to be harder to come by.

It would be good to maintain a thread where people can link places that have Melee copies for sale that can be posted to Australia, particularly as time goes on. Gamecube hardware would also be very welcome. This would allow people looking to get into Melee to have an easier time getting started.

I'll share my first find, this site http://www.fullyretro.com/ is a UK based retro game seller targeting the Australian market. If you click here you can purchase Melee for $37.90 (might be original or Platinum). They aren't always in stock, but I've enquired about them getting some original Melee copies in.

Particularly, I'm hoping this thread could be used to post bargains and allow those wanting to build up a good store of gear for events to do so without forking out $80+ for each copy of Melee and console they buy.

you probably already know but there is a smashboards amazon store linked in banners on the boards. It has a few bits of tech, but even they are only offering $100+ copies of Melee
had no idea new copies of it would cost so much

hope my disc never stops working

I bought a copy off of ebay for my friend for $40 from a seller that bulk stocks gamecube games in general, given he did list it as being preowned nothing was wrong with it no scratches on the disk case looked great so did the instruction manual, it might as well have been brand new.

So ebay I guess is always a good place.

I bought my copy from Gametraders, if that means anything.

I think Ebay is probably your best bet.

Melee goes down as low as $25 from what I've seen on Ebay. I got my copy for about $30 a couple of months ago, since my brother was sick of me stealing his every time I wanted to play Smash. So, as others here have said, keep your eyes peeled.

The hardware is difficult to get at a reasonable price on Ebay sometimes. Especially when you bring controllers into the picture. I'd recommend checking out the Cash Converters webshop every now and then. Sometimes though, they have consoles without controllers, so be careful of what you purchase and/or how much you are spending. I actually got one in store for between $60-$70 with a controller, so that was a nice Christmas gift to myself last year. They also tend to have lots of cheap Wii consoles so if there are no GCs (or they are too expensive), might pay off to get a Wii instead.

Controllers... Apparently Amazon is the best place for those. Anyone know anywhere better/cheaper? I don't use Amazon personally so I don't really know where the best place to get them is. Would appreciate any information though, because mine is starting to lose its pizaz, and I kind of want a new one...

As for CRTs (covering all bases here I suppose), just go on Freecycle.org and put up a post saying you want one in the area that is closest to where you live. It's a guarantee that you'll find out qucickly. In my area, I see CRTs posted daily. People have every size you could want as well. So never pay for a CRT unless you are looking for something very specific.

Another thing I can recommend, even though it is a lot rarer to happen these days, is go to garage sales and look for the stuff at ridiculous prices. My brother picked up a N64 incredibly cheap (like $5) with a couple of controllers at one a couple of years ago, and every now and then I see cheap video game related things at some. As I said though, it is a lot rarer to find these days since people are realizing the value of older systems especially.

Just got the GC controller I ordered from Amazon today, works great, however it costs about $30 for a controller and $25 to ship here, so you'd probably be best off ordering more than one considering the cost.
