When Suggesting a pokemon

Think about this.

1. Is the pokemon unique? We don't want another electric rat or another puffball etc. etc. we want some one who could bring a unique fighting style

2. Is the Pokemon Popular? Popularity plays a huge role as well we don't want someone minor like Zangoose or Larvitar

3. Is the Pokemon recognisable? If a non-pokemon fan sees the character will they be able to say oh yeah he's that one guy I remember or oh yeah I remeber him from the Tv show

4. Not every Generation needs a pokemon to represent it, you could have a pokemon from the first generation and give it some moves from the newer generations there you go the generation is represented. If you're going to suggest someone like heracross don't use a point like "he would represent the 2nd generation"

5. Use Search! Half the pokemon you think meet my other 4 rules have been suggested already so use the search button it's underneath the the calender button (the mushroom)

6. Pokemon Groups such as starters are a bad idea. These aren't impossible just unlikely. There are starters used in the game by pokemon trainer yes but he uses all three from the group. Certain pokemon such as starters and some groups of legendary pokemon are grouped together, if one is in the will all be in.

7. Being legendary doesn't help a pokemon's chance. Only one legendary pokemon has ever been playable, the rest have been pokeballs. Being a legendary pokemon doesn't help a pokemon's chances of playablity.

If you follow these 7 guidelines it cuts out most pokemon but saves your threads from a lot of flames.

It's just an example of how the character could be recognised it could from that, the game covers, tv commercials, the internet, the largely talked about ones are in all of these.

Pikachu was put in because of the majority as a favourite Pokemon and soon became the icon on the Pokemon franchise.
Jigglypff was put in because it was Japans favourite 2nd Populor Pokemon.
Mewtwo is a Orginal Legendary besides Mew that looked more Humanesque.
Pichu I have no clue but probaly due to popularity in Japan.

There should be a Thread like this for the random character threads that get really old after a while. Maybe then we could have alot more intelligent discussions of characters more likel to make it in. Well, this is my opinon though, and I am gald you posted this!

2. The gens part really dosn't fly well with me. The gens are a huge part of the series on it's own so they should rep each gen. This is one of nintendo's top selling/most popular titles (Has been said to be the 2nd highest, or close to 2nd highest, selling title they have) and the different gens are an important part to the games growth.

(The funny thing is that, because the new gens always have pokemon from the old gens, any 2-3-4 gen pokemon they put in could just rep for the latest game.)

Ninja/monk with ki blasts... some superficial similarity to M2 by promo art alone, but is Steel/Fighting type, and thous would be as different from M2 as M2 is from Samus.

Being a Legendary Pokemon from the up-and-coming Diamond/Pearl games, and having more screentime than even ASH has in Pokemon Movie 8 gives him a good measure of reconition.

that's not fair to fire emblem then they have different lords in every games and could be considered "Generations" should we represent all of them too and plus that is a weak argument

There, Im backing up my statement by saying that even if a 2nd pokemon is put in they could rep the latest game with their attacks. . . which would make them a 4th gen rep because those attacks are not in the 2nd gen games.
Is that still weak? I could go deeper if you want.

The only generation I think who doesnt need represent is the 2nd one. But still having them to represent EVERY generation would let them add around 6~7 new Pokemon considering that Pikachu, Jigglypuf and Mewtwo are all from the first generation and are likely not cutted out.

ok I get it but saying they need to add a pokemon purley to rep a new series is stupid just add in some more B moves or whatever and give Pikachu Iron Tail and stuff

4. Not every Generation needs representation. This is a common point people bring up when suggesting pokemon, the series as a whole needs to be represented not each and every generation that's just silly.
