However Bungie is no longer owned by the Devil. Master chief or a Spartaan(since Master Chief is untouchable) have a shot of being in a Smash game, while Sony owned third partys don't, Microsoft is more of nintendo "ally" right now, just because they whant to crush Sony and send them to oblivion.

OF course i'm not saying a Spartan will appear in Brawl....

Halo DS was never real to begin with. Bungie said it themselves - it's just a pretty mod.

It was not and it was proven correct

In January 2007, IGN editor-in-chief Matt Casamassina claimed that he had played a version of Halo for the Nintendo DS.[30] Due to speculation, on October 2, 2007 he demonstrated on-camera, and in-game footage of an early-development style Halo game.[31] The then work-in-progress game includes a DS version of the Halo 2 map Zanizbar, with dual-wielding.[30] On October 5, 2007, Bungie employee Brian Jarrard confirmed that the Halo demo was real but had been canceled.[32]

Eh. Either way. MC was never on a Nintendo console, and thus can't get in. That's fact.

Also, *stabs Shuma for being a priss*

True, but Bungie just recently broke off from Microsoft, and 50-some days before Brawls release, I doubt they'd rush in and make Master Chief a character.

Alot of the third parties seem iffy. I mean, Sonic has that whole "Sonic's first appearance with Mario will be the Olympics" thing, though I just found out recently that Olympics is coming out before Brawl *Haven't checked yet*, so who knows.

Megaman is a popular character, yes, but lately he hasn't been as big. Also, what Megaman would they use? Battle Network? I get the feeling if Capcom threw in their biggest character, they'd give him his most updated look relating to a Nintendo console.

Geno is always a loveable popular, but if Squenix was to give Brawl a character, what are the chances of Geno being in? Wouldn't Black Mage represent Final Fantasy better? x.x

Hell no, you people don't seem to understand Black Mage is only popular because of 8-bit theatre...Hell, the company that makes him doesn't know of that comic probably and all the crap it brought....

If ANY Square character has a chance, it's Geno

Er, no. I don't even read 8-bit theatre.

When Square and Nintendo conjoined to make a sports DS game, what characters were in again? Moogle, Ninja and Black Mage? Which Final Fantasy game has been remade the most by Square? Final Fantasy 1. Who's in FF1? Black Mage.

How many games has Geno been in? And does he represent Square-Enix?

Now, it's not that i'm bashing Geno. I love Geno, and I love SMRPG, but when you think along the lines of who would represent a franchise best, you gotta think about more than just a SMRPG fanbase.

The only other popular characters I can think of is either Sora or Cloud. Sora is also owned by Disney, meaning too many copyright issues. And Cloud having a tiny cameo on a GBA game that isn't even related to his actual game doesn't give him any chance.

O...k...that's nice but what Black Mage has been in more than 1 game, sure Mario Hoops but you could also count Mario & Luigi whatever the hell as another game for Geno. The rest of the Black Mages have either been alternate character classes for other characters or didn't even fit the stereotypical Black Mage (Other than Vivi, who was never on a nintendo system)...

Geno has a better chance than ANY Square character

Geno? Yeah, he has a chance, I know, but most of the people who play the game and find Geno aren't gonna think "Square-Enix" representative, because not that many people actually pay attention to that fact.

Now, if Nintendo bought the rights for Geno, then yes! Put him and have him kick major ***! I would love that. But seeing as how Square wouldn't really be represented with Geno, well, I already explained that much.

@Psycho: Black Mage is a recurring class in just about every Final Fantasy, whether he's a real character or just an outfit, he's still there.

The fact is...If Square WENT to Sakurai and asked for their character to get in, they might choose someone else in the rare case they don't realize Geno got the most on the polls and is one of the most wanted characters to be in Smash....

But most likely Square won't go to Sakurai, Sakurai will go to Square to get Geno...Since he showed interest in the character and got high on the polls.

Square can keep all their FF characters in their Smash copy their making

Black Mage isn't a character than in your opinion...so why should someone who's not a character be in Smash?

You're thinking more along fanbase and less along ACTUAL sales. Square-Enix is a business foremost and always.

Now, if a 9 year old just unlocked Geno, would he say either "Oh wow, it's Geno from Square-Enix!" or "Hey, this doll dude looks cool!". Geno is mostly a cult favorite, and yes, the polls do show he's a popular character. Hell, if I was able to vote, he'd be my first choice for a third party, considering I don't really like Sonic, and I just plain hate Megaman.

Squenix wouldn't get represented by a character that hasn't been used in a long time, and UNLESS Nintendo bought the rights to Geno, Sakurai going to them with a check in his hand wouldn't cut it. See where i'm going with this?

Also, what are the chances of Squenix even getting involved with Brawl? Third parties are iffy, the only reason Snake is in is because he was an easy add-in, and it cost Nintendo absolutely nothing.

Of course I don't think of sales, I think along the design of the game...the same way Sakurai would...the sales is done by different people. The business people and the designers always get into fights about that kinda crap...you people seem to think about ONLY money and not design in any way...Sakurai made his own company because of crap like that...

Besides, it all depends on if Sakurai asks for Geno from Square or if Square goes to Sakurai and asks for a different character. Personally, I don't think Square is going to go to Sakurai.

So you know Sakurai in a friend basis? Cause I recall Iwata(Spelling?) giving him that company and the money for his building, and the team to make Brawl.

I do think about design, but one single character doesn't make design. Brawl wouldn't be crap just because Geno isn't in and some other character is.

@Meta: So what you're saying is, that you think Sakurai just goes up to them and says "I want this character, here's some money"? It isn't that simple. They meet together, and debate what could they do to scratch each others backs.

Repeated again, in bold this time. Unless Nintendo bought the rights for Geno, Squenix wouldn't settle for Geno. As financially, they don't gain as much as they would if they gave a character that better represents them, like BM or Cloud.

You can complain about design all you want, but why would Squenix care about the design of a game that isn't theirs?

No, but that doesn't change the fact Geno still has a better chance right now than any other Square character

thing is, the ONLY way I see geno getting in is if he gets in along with another squeenix character. sakurai said himself he was going to aim at all different generations of gamers. which what lead to the mymusic feature. now, only the nerdiest of nintendo nerds, who were at least gaming since the SNES era, know who geno is. so obviously, most people wont see him at all as a square guy. however, if he also adds in a more well-known character like BM, cloud, or whatever, he could appeal to all people that way.

Then all you can do is cross your fingers.

I'm just hoping on Marth to return, even if his chances seem off and on slim because of Ike.
I can tell you one other thing...When I was young and got Smash 64 and unlocked Ness, I was excited to find out about a character I knew nothing about and got his games and looked up all the information...You think little kids won't be surprised to find character they don't know of?

Sonic, megaman, Pac Man and Bomberman are the only ones who have a chance. (Unless you count Geno as 3rd Party)

Sure, but that doesn't mean crap in the long run. =p

You go on the internet and find out he's from Mario RPG, an SNES game you've never heard of. Is a kid gonna see that game and think Squenix first, or Nintendo and Mario?

He IS a Mario character first, he shouldn't be considered a Square rep...that's why Sakurai always counts Geno among the Mario characters

Which is WHY I SAID that if NINTENDO bought the rights to GENO, no one would make that mistake and he could easily be in.

EDIT: Anyway, i'm off to class, see ya.

Not that I am an authority on the matter but I think that bomberman, Simon Belmont and Sonic have the highest chances of being in SSBB. Sonic because he is obviously the most popular choice but Bomberman and Simon Belmont because they, like Snake, were both in the game Dream Mix TV World Fighters. Also I believe that most of the Castlevania games that have come out in the past 7 years have been on either Game boy Advance or Nintendo Ds. Also most of the Bomberman games have come out on nintendo systems. Not that Megaman has not been on nintendo systems just as much but Bomberman Snake and Simon belmont were all in a smash bros like game together.

so you're basically saying that optimus prime, megatron, that kid from beyblade, and the moai enemy from gradius has a better chance then megaman?

Bomberman has a better chance than people think but it matters more about Japanese politics between the companies and Japanese popularity
