How many people do you know who says this? I bet its everyone who you talk to about the game since everyone I know says this everytime brawl is mentioned.

Discuss. Do you know anyone who says something like this?

I say I'm gonna be the best snake in the US all the time. It's pretty ignorant of me actually, but I do it anyways. Why? Cuz I'm an idiot, thats why.

If you have no tourney experience but play against ppl that go to tourneys, then it is possible to be good, i've seen it with my own two eyes. But it's rare to find people like that. I lost to someone like that a while ago. Why? Cuz i'm an idiot, that's why.

No, and I'm mad about it. I'd love to meet more people with that kind of dedication to getting good at this game. =(

I don't know anyone who says this, but if they ever do, i'll be sure to grab them by the shoulders, shake them back and forth screaming "BUT YOU'RE REALLY BAD" repeatedly, before force feeding them Joytech memory cards that only have a save for "Universal Studios" on them.
And if that isn't enough, i'll drop an XBOX on their head. Sorted.

Besides, you can't know for sure if you're the best or not. You don't know EVERYONE in the nation, unless your name is popular-man, with the power of laser friend-making eye beams...

And I think from when Brawl is released, i'll start by playing on the first level, just to get used to the physics and techniques of characters, just to see who's favourite for me, because I doubt it'll be Fox/Sheik this time. I've had my eye on MetaKnight since he first swung back his cloak.

FIX'D

J/K :chuckle:
hahhaa

Nah, I dunno. Brawl sounds like a lot of fun but I dunno if I want to put in the effort to be on the power rankings.

Oh and to any noobs reading this, if you wanna be the best at brawl, you have to play more than just a few times a week. Id say if you want to be the ''best in the nation'' you should play with human opponents.. at least 25+ hours a week, minimum to get the edge. Or maybe you will just naturally have a talent for it, who knows.

Im pretty focused on becoming really, really good at melee (I put a good 15 hours a week or more into melee) so even when brawl comes out Im probably going to want to compete moreso in melee if its still around tournament wise, and Im sure it will be. :)

As long as you don't start telling me I should wavedash, man, we're good. I want to be good enough to take on my friends and the other college folks around here, but, um...no way in hell am I putting 10 hours a day into Smash. Not even because I wouldn't do that for a game; I've got other games to play, too.

Still, Melee's an awesome game, and I don't see any reason for the tourneys to stop. I think it's completely impossible for Brawl to turn out close enough to Melee to make -everyone- happy.

I dunno if they can bring back a glitch, but keep your fingers crossed DT
It's not a glitch though, I was being sarcastic. Anyhow lets not get into this, save it for the thread I made.

Nah im not the kind of guy thats going to tell you what to do. I will argue against posters that try to put down competitive play though and call moves like wavedashing and the like glitches or cheating.

Yeah, see you're being realistic. You wanna play, but you don't think you're gonna be the best, and you seem to realize that becoming the best in ANY videogame takes a lot of work.

It pisses me off to see people on youtube watching pro matches like Isai vs Darkrain and saying stuff like

Generic Youtube Smash noob/scrub said:
YA, well u guys just wait till brawl cumz out den we're gonna see who relly has skillz and im gonna own u all!!!!
It's just **** annoying. I like the topic of this thread so I hope I didnt steer it off course by mentioning wavedashing. Id argue with RVD fan about WDing, but this is not the thread to do so in. Carry on. :chuckle:

.. read. ;)

I wonder which existing top skilled melee players are going to be the kings of brawl. Because its going to most likely be them, not random nubs like youtube posters seem to think. I heard Ken and Isai were growing tired with smash though.

Every noob that watches smash vids on youtube. EVERY one.
I KNOW!! It's so ********. All of the scrubby ******* are like "I dunt needz thiz dashwaving ztuv, i go moe skilz thn thiz haxx0r". I wish someone would smack them with their controllers until they get some common sense.

Me and all my friends admit we suck so no.
My friends won't even admit I'm better than them [apparently consistently beating them with around 7 characters isn't good enough for them].

I tell them I'm bad at smash and they go 'that's why I can beat you' >.>

Dear God,
send me a Wii and 2 new GC controllers so I can practice techs and shut those scrubs up. Kthxbai.

I plan to train around that much if I get a Wii during summer. My only problem is lack of people to train [with]. I'll have to find a way around that.

I once beat a kid with like 5 different characters straight and then I chose pichu and wuped him withought even trying while he was using marth and when I left he started to call me chicken and I had to restrain myself from laughing my *** of. I forgot to mention I had had no sleep that night while he had just woke up.

I think that's rather shortsighted. I'm sure there will be a good rollover rate, but look at the early Melee scene compared to today's. Some of the top players nowadays are just recently getting national attention (though a lot of them have been playing for a while).

Brawl will see plenty of new faces. Plenty of extremely skilled new faces. Assuming it's a good enough game to support a community, that is.

Oh, true of course. But I mean people with bad mentalities towards self improvement and playing to win ie: people who think that there are moves in melee that are ''cheap'' that post on youtube about how when brawl comes out theyre going to be the best ever, are not.

Im sure plenty of rookies will do like PC chris did recently at the MLGs. Dont get me wrong im not saying the only brawl pros will be the existing melee pros, but rather the brawl pros wont be the people on youtube with nooby mentalities.
