I know it's a bit early to think about this, but I'm wondering what's going to happen in the next Smash game pertaining to the characters? Which ones are going to get cut(if any)? It seems that mostly Pokemon are the ones that are disposable characters. My friend mains as Lucario, and he's worried that he won't be in the next game. If new Pokemon generations keep getting added to the ones that already exist, it is very possible that Lucario may be replaced with a newer Pokemon as Mewtwo was in Melee. Another thing I speculate about is what characters could possibly be added to the roster? Of course, these ideas are assuming that there will even be another Smash game, which I hope there will. Random side note: I'm probably going to be one of those people who's like forty and still playing video games. Sigh.

I think we should wait a bit before speculating the roster's changes that much. When you think about it, the next Smash is probably a long ways away (although there most certainly will be another, I'd bet all my money on that).

Bowser will never, ever be retired. He's arguably the second most important character in the Mario series after Mario. Bowser Jr. would make sense as an addition though. But yeah, another game won't happen for a long time.

Brawl will live as long as the Wii.

Although actually I don't see that being very long.

Why the @#&*! would Bowser get canned for Bowser Jr.? Honestly curious about the logic involved here.

Anywho,
-Expect Little Mac to be playable
-Pokemon is a bit confusing and hard to predict
-Another Smash probably won't happen before 2014

A new Brawl game will be a long way away. Melee to Brawl took 6 years and 3 months. So far Brawl has only been out for 1 year and 9 months.

Still nevertheless this is fun to think about. There should be more villians and King K. Rool needs to get on the roster. No character should be taken off because that will disappoint many people. Many people are mad Doc and Roy are gone. There was even a blog made a few days ago about MewTwo's abscense.

Air grabs as mentioned earlier would be awsome. More moves should also be added to each character and that didn't quite happen for Brawl. Instead of the D-Pad being made to extend taunts it should have been used in combination with other buttons for more attack or defensive options. Perhaps next game the D-Pad will finally give the Ganon a sword! Then he will be high tier lol.

Well, let's see... you remember Forrest Law from Tekken 3? He replaced his father Marshall Law... true it was only that game, but the point is the precedent exists.

Bowser Jr first appeared in Sunshine, his latest role in NSMBW is kinda like the leader of the pack, second only to Bowser himself. He's come a ways in other words, he's established himself in the Mario universe, and though he clearly shows ultimate father/son loyalty (unlike his siblings) this is more for me evidence he'll take the throne one day, inherited by right, BECAUSE he's the most loyal, and his father's "favorite."

And, well, I think Bowser's had his day, ya know? He's old, I mean, no one balked when DK wasn't THE Donkey Kong (from the original game), but his, what grandchild? Or something... point being he's not the same one, he's a generation or two down... but Bowser is still the same old Bowser from SMB. I'd like to see more out of the Bowser name, I guess, and Jr. seems to have more potential in this regard, maybe even be a high tier character.

Although I do understand the argument against his removal, he's been there since the first game, and typically in fighting games, the original or first title character roster remains ... the "core" characters essentially, so in this respect I wouldn't expect his removal. Maybe just the addition of Jr to the Mario characters' lineup.

Here is something to note: Sakurai has pulled a new studio together. This has some of the best people in the business in all of Japan. Its office is in EXPENSIVE retail space. I mean SUPER EXPENSIVE. Its like opening up an office in New York Square. He also stated that his new project is more aimed directly at the hardcore gamer. So. From this, I assume, that he must be working on one of two things

1. SSB4
2. Kirby Air Ride 2

I think we see which is far more likely.

You seem to be forgetting that Bowser is still far more important and popular than his son. No opposition to adding Junior here, but kicking Bowser out would be a bad idea. There isn't really any indication that BJ will completely replace Bowser in the games, and making roster decisions based on that would be strange.

@CRASHiC

Sakurai has described what he's working on as an experiment, and he seems unsure of its reception. He also says it's something that Nintendo couldn't make. That doesn't really point to Smash or Kirby, but rather something completely new.
