What's going on with custom moves?

I've seen Nintendo hint at them being available for the Mii Three but I haven't seen them on any menus or anything. Are custom moves in Ultimate, that we know of?

Pretty sure Sakurai confirmed customs aren't coming back for fighters that aren't the Miis.

It's rather evident that custom specials are limited to Miis right now. Future software updates could add custom specials onto the remaining fighters, but that's probably a long stretch.

They probably took a few conclusions themselves from the balance issues, as well as a lot of the custom moves being hard to keep track off, especially with a large cast. Probably for the best, you really need to build a game around customization to make it really click.

It's not unfun feature, but I remember quickly losing interest in most customs that weren't a clear tactical upgrade. I don't really play seriously, but even casually it's a blur to keep track of them all. And seeing that even quite a few ingame modes don't allow them, I found it annoying to except two versions of characters with a move that I liked(mostly Ike, who has a sideB that cheeses the AI quite nicely)

They should have tried to salvage as many custom movesets as they could through Echo Fighters. At least that's what I would have wanted to do.

I'm glad one of Palutena's custom moves survived, and definitely the one I used the most.

I was always a fan of custom moves and I think the problem was not that they existed, but that they didn't go far enough with it (kinda like Smash Run, or stage builders, or Melee's adventure mode, or a lot of things come to think of it).

They should not have been restricted in any modes, save for Online For Glory perhaps. And I wish most of them were as unique as Palutena's or the Mii Fighters (though Mega Man's custom specials show that even with keeping the same animations, you can still reference canon moves). I felt that, for a game whose roster cannot simply grow indefinitely, custom moves were a way to inject newness and change into the game without the need to constantly add more characters to achieve the same effect.
It's one of those amazing ideas, like Mario Kart Double Dash's two-person karts, that I'm likely just going to have to keep in fond memory.
