I'm sorry if this has already been dicussed, but I had no idea what it is called so I couldn't really search for it... It seems like he is doing some sort of strange moonwalk (for lack of a better name) into a forward tilt. Can someone explain it to me? Here's the link to the vid. This isn't mine by the way nor am I trying to claim any credit for it.

Its already been seen. Its done just by the analog, something along the lines of go one way, go to the other way a little past center and hit a. Its a pretty precise controlling.

I cannot do this easily. I can't simply press back then forward then a. This will either result in a smash attack that does not slide or a dash attack. How do you do this?

The only reason the smash comes out is because as I tilt the stick to the other direction I press A at the same time, I've tried messing with the timing but to no avail.

But you're saying that it's just tap back, tilt forward and A really fast (or slightly delayed)?

Does it always get the same slide distance?

Try jumping followed by holding back and as you land let Link start to turn around and then press A. (Just a different way of doing it.)

I think slightly delayed (I never try on the ground alone), Let Link attempt to walk before you press A

No, this depends on your timing.
