With Smash bros 3ds coming out this week and the Wiiu later this year, what have been the craziest, funniest, stupidest rumors, leaks or info you have ever got your ears/eyes on on the smash series?

like a good old' OP ill start

1-Smash 64
-You can do ULTRA SPECIAL MOVES by pressing special commands with every character
(example pikachu will do a multitude of Thunder attacks)
-You can play as Goku by completing...blah blah BS

2-Meleeeee
-You can unlock Sonic and Tails (OMFG screew you)


3-Brawl
-Nothing, i stopped believing lol

Any and I do mean ANY rumor/so called "leak" that Ridley will somehow be part of the playable roster. Not to rustle any feathers, but I just can't help but laugh every time one of these pops up and someone has to be that guy and overanalyze what they mistakenly assume is "proof" he's a playable character. You would think Ridley being suggested to be a STAGE BOSS in 4's April Nintendo Direct would have been enough to deter even the biggest of conspiracy nuts, but you would be surprised how persistent some of Ridley's fanbase is. You could outright confirm Ridley as anything but a playable character, yet there would still be a few who would vehemently deny the proof just like that and spin it into "proof" he's somehow playable. I've seen people who swear you can actually collect the Triforce in Ocarina of Time, play as Luigi in Super Mario 64, find Bigfoot in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, etc but "Ridley is playable this time in smash bros; I swear on my grandmothers grave this is true!" rumors/BS leaks imo tops em all!


Also, in Melee, anybody here remember the infamous Sonic and Tails rumor from EGM? Likewise, the Toad rumor had generated quite a bit of lulz in its heyday.

You Ridley haters JUST CAN'T LET GO, DO YOU!? God you're a sad one, do you really feel the need to come and say that on a completely unrelated thread because you can't understand the distress of the second-most-wanted character's fanbase?

Let it go, Ridley's not on the raw version of Smash 3DS, you and your filthy kind won, now shut up and avoid rubbing it in the faces of a group of people that has done nothing to you.

Not to turn this into a Ridley debate thread but I feel like you've got a very closed mind about the issue. I'm mainly a Ridley supporter because the Anti-Ridley crowd is vindictive and mean... Plus Metroid deserves a rep that isn't Samus. But that's besides the point of this thread

64: Unlock Metal Mario by beating Vhard in under 20 minutes without dying. I did it, and was disappointed, but by that point I was the best player I knew at the time.

Melee: Dragon Temple unlocked by beating VHard with Marth and Roy. Did it, didn't work, and from then on I never trusted unlock information.

I was in 5th grade when Smash 64 came out, and the rumor around the playground was that the 4 unlockable characters were Luigi, Jigglypuff, Charizard, and Lara Croft. My young gullible self believed it, and was super disappointed with Captain Falcon and Ness, as I'd never heard of either of them.
Turned out that Falcon was my main character in 64, and Ness was my secondary in Brawl lol.

I feel like the Internet kinda kills any sort of mystery when it comes to in-game secrets nowadays. It kinda sucks, and I feel bad for my future spawn

I sort of believed the one about unlocking Toad if you hit all the credits in Melee, but I didn't care enough about Toad to put in that much effort.

I sort of miss pre-internet video games. There was so much folk-lore behind certain games, especially Pokemon. Remember Pikablu, Mewthree, or the PokeGods? It's kind of funny how we more or less have official versions of all of those things today.

Sorry but I am going to have to lock this thread. It doesn't really have any potential discussion towards Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.

As well, people are going to get their feelings hurt. And we can't have that here since people taking character inclusions very, very seriously. This has potential for people to come on this thread and say "The rumor that "so and so" character will be playable as DLC." lol trollololo. And then a fan of that character may come on and say "You egghead that character is my favorite! I hate you!" flameflameflame and throw the thread into spam hell. In fact, it has already happened.

Lastly, we do not allow threads about leaks and rumors. If it was only leaks and rumors about previous installments, it MIGHT be ok but that would be for an entirely different part of the forum. But a thread rumors and leaks about a game that has yet to be FULLY released yet is a no-no here.
