Once again, a very clever idea from Hypercat-Z. Would you attack them like you do normal bosses though? Or would they jump on platforms that you could jump under to knock them off?

As much as I enjoyed the boss fights in Brawl, part of me does feel there were too many monster-size bosses. I would like to see in Smash 4 some regular-sized bosses that actually flinch when taking damage. I would also like to see some bosses that actually require some form of strategy in order to defeat.

I remember a particular boss in a Nintendo Wii game called Pandora's Tower whom I found fairly interesting. This boss had a number of floating scales that would shield it from attacks. The only way to destroy said scales was when the boss would send them after you or use them in some other form of attack. The only way to damage the boss itself was to either destroy all of the floating scales defending it or wait until it used a certain attack--the latter of which was rather risky. After a while, the boss would spawn new scales, so you had to destroy them fast. I would like to see a boss similar to this in Smash 4.

Dullahan from Golden Sun would also make an interesting boss. Like the monster-size bosses, Dullahan would have an HP gauge, but unlike the monster-size bosses he would walk around like a regular character and actually flinch when taking a hit from the player. For close-range attacks, Dullahan can either bash the player with his shield, slice the player with his sword, or use a charged sword strike that will send the player flying. For long-range attacks, Dullahan could unleash dark vines that damage the player whilst restoring Dullahan's HP, or Dullahan could conjure an electrically-charged whip that can kill the player at a fairly low damage percentage.

Dark Samus would make a challenging boss as well an interesting villain, given the fact that she can control all animate objects that are corrupted with Phazon. Whilst flying around the stage, Dark Samus could perform some of the attacks she used in her respective games, such as laser fire, morph ball dashes, and explosions. Just like a regular character, Dark Samus would have a damage percentage, and would flinch and be sent flying or KO'ed depending on her damage percentage.

Another boss I would absolutely love to see in Smash 4 is Twin Rova from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. For those whom are unfamiliar with the name, Twin Rova is a pair of evil witches, one of whom wields the power of fire, the other of whom wields the power of ice. The only way to hurt one of the witches was to turn her twin sister's power against her. In Smash 4, the two witches could take turns casting their magick at the player. When Koume, the fire witch, casts her magick, it will create a large radius along the floor in which the player will be damaged, whereas when Kotake, the ice witch, casts her magick, it will not only damage the player, but also leave a sheet of slippery ice on the ground. The only way to damage the witches would be to pick up the ice shards or heated rocks from the aftermath of the witches' magick and throw them at whichever witch is the opposite element of the held projectile. Eventually, the witches will fuse together. The player can attack their fused form regularly, but the now fused witches will be more powerful.

(Shrugs) Maybe not the best ideas, but they could possibly make an interesting addition besides having non-flinching behemoths for bosses.

I would love to see a boss battle against Mother Brain her form in Super Metroid that is not the brain in a glass jar kinda thing...though even better would be both a bit of a reenactment of the boss battle from Super Metriod that would be cool. I think having a level like one of the Bowser castles fireballs flaying at you as you progress the stages and all leading up to a boss fight with Bowser would be cool too. And if they finally do cave and put Geno in it from Mario RPG LotSS then having a Smithy boss battle would be awesome! Honestly I would like to see more fan glad handing in this game and less new bosses. Smash Bro's is essentially the celebration of all of Nintendo's great franchises they should embrace that.

Well, I once dreamt of an ice-fire boss, eccept it was a two headed dragon, half blue and half red. And you had to split it in his two parts first, called Billy and Jimmy (^_^) in order to damage them.
When they were fused together their stamina were expressed in HP, but once splitted it was in %, so you had to sweep thm out with a smash attack.
Every time one of the two was a lot more damaged than the other they fused again, discouraging to attack one of them only. Thought, when one of them was defeated, the other was fleeing away, each one of them in a different direction, leading to different paths, one to a glacier and one to a volcano, for round two.
I think this can work with Twinrova too. What do you think?

I think he would make a good boss:

He might fight you through quick times events.
Sample:
He asks:"Which letter is closer to J in the latin alphabeth?"
and then three floating blocks shaped like a T, a H and a Q will appear and you have fewest seconds to guess the right one and hit it. And if it's the right one it will ends on his face causing a damage proportionally to the force it was hitten with. But if it's the wrong one it will explode, reflecting the same damage on you.
And if you go "**** this ****!" and don't answer in time he will try to punish you by using his hands you can, with the right timing, avoid and hit. Which could be a harder chaillenge than answer to his question of increasing difficulty.

1) Puzzle bosses. Zelda style. You have to be smart and figure out the weakness of the boss to be able to defeat them.

For example: King boo. It's a stage inside a mansion with not much light. He appears half transparent and you can't hit him.
In order to make him vulnerable you have to light a lantern or smash a window or something to get light on him. Then you can hit him but the lantern goes out after a while and you have to relight it.
Perhaps there's a stick item you have to pick up and rub against something to get fire then touch the lantern with it.

2) Like people have already mentioned: Bosses that are actual characters or character sized.
I found it somewhat boring hacking and slashing giant monsters till they run out of hit points.

But most of all they have to be challenging. Way too easy in Brawl.

The concept of bosses has so much potential for the Smash series. It can give ignored series a spotlight and bring in characters who wouldn't gel as playable fighters. I'd love see a fight against King Hippo in close quarters, a scrolling battle on King K. Rool's ship, a Mega Man 2-inspired three-stage fight against Dr. Wily, and so on.

Tabuu should be revealed to actually be Dr. Kawashima. I'm tired of these original bosses like Galleom and Duon that look like Kingdom Hearts rejects.

Smasboards suck
I'd like the last boss to change depending on who the character is that reaches it. Ex: Mario: Bowser, Link: Gannon,etc..if possible.

I actually made some ideas for bosses a while ago that factored into the story. For instance, before you can unlock Mega Man in Adventure Mode (if there indeed is one), you'd enter a room in a factory or something and see some random Robot Master (I like to think Guts Man or Cut Man) and Mega Man fighting. The life bars of the two characters pop up, and Mega Man just about defeats the Robot Master. He looks back and is shocked to see the player, and his life bar rises to full health. A new life bar pops up with your icon right above it, and he immediately starts fighting. It's basically a HP fight, like in Brawl, except you're in a closed area with no platforms or anything, just your abilities. 2 Special Attacks, 1 Smash Attack or 4 Normal Attacks would deplete one fraction of the life bar. Once you beat Mega Man, a cinematic shows the characters shake hands or something to show alliance when the particles (the death animation of the Robot Masters or Mega Man) would reform and create the Robot Master that MM defeated. And then you would defeat him like you did Mega Man. Then there's always other battles you could have, like Mario meeting Metal Mario, Link going into a temple or something to reclaim an important item for his team when suddenly Dark Link pops out from behind him, Pit flying and meeting Dark Pit for a race, possibilities everywhere! Also, I'd love to see specialized boss fights. Like, for instance, let's say before you fight the final boss, you're Mario. Let's say that the main team of heroes is the original 12. Mario steps up onto the stairs and Bowser slams down. Link with Ganondorf, Kirby with Dedede, etc.

Id love to see good ol forgotten Wizpig
The final boss of Diddy Kong Racing? Let me check if he belongs to Nintendo or Rare...
Apparently he legally belongs to Nintendo since he appeared in Diddy Kong Racing DS, unlike Conker and Banjo.
It would be interesting to see what he can do in a fighting context.
