Basically... I am fine if they DI infront, I.E Uair chains but say I throw at 45% and they DI behind is my only option regrab? I can't turn around dash Uair intime. Should I be fairing here? is there anything I can do keep up the combo which is as guranteed as Uairing if they DI forwards?

Consider this response a stopgap until someone more experienced comes along. I'm not good enough at the chaingrab to have this stuff memorized yet.

That said, I'm pretty sure the correct response here is tipper fair. Non-tipper leads to a techchase unless their DI is bad in which case you might get a regrab if you're quick about it. Tipper fair will knock them a little higher and lead to more things.

That said, it might be that you actually can get the uair here, and just need to tighten your execution.

I think Turnaround uptilt works. A bair would work too a think. depends on how far behind you they go. I agree with Life too tho.

Thanks, and yes I think I can get an Uair tbh I threw out 65% because I can't remember what percentages give me problems, I just know 45% does. I would say 45-53% is where Uairs are hard. I know I can turn around Uair at 60 at least

Why would you ever choose something else if the regrab is guaranteed? Fair and uair could be DI'd and you'd have to react, while a regrab will reset your initial position. Just keep chaining the grabs together until around 55%, at which point you can get a tipper fsmash really easily on hard lateral DI (and lesser opponents will usually keep DI-ing away, making it an easy kill). At percents past the window for regrabs, uair should work and should be fairly easy up to high percents.

This being said, there are times you can't get regrabs, like if you mix platforms into the equation in which case it's worth looking at alternatives. But when it comes to chaingrabs, the next grab is always the most important thing unless you can secure the kill with an attack.
