A great controller with a cable and wireless lag. That's like the worst of both worlds. And we have to find a place to put the Wiimote so it's always pointing at the screen at the right height. A shame really because the controller is just so good.

I do wish the USB to Wii classic controller adapters work on the WIiU. It works with my iMac so I can use the Dolphin emulator with the classic controller there. I could try it with the WiiU but I don't think it'll work sadly. That would be an adapter and a cable (on the classic controller). Not the best of situations but it'd remove the wireless portion.
I know I'm dreaming here but I can dream right?
Wait, so the Wii Classic Controller and Wii Pro Controllers need to connect to the Wii U...
How?

No no, you misunderstand me.
I own an adapter that I can plug my classic controller into for use with the dolphin emulator on my iMac. So it goes like this:
Classic controller plugged into one end of the adapter. And the other end of the adapter is a USB cable plugged into the USB port of my iMac. Thus totally eliminating the need of the Wiimote there. My question I asked myself is, would the same set up work for the Wii. As to replace the Wiimote with a USB adapter. I don't think so. But I can always try.

Well, in reality, I almost never have the Wiimote pointing at the screen.
I'm pretty sure the Wii Classic Controller just needs to be plugged in to the Wiimote.

I'm probably going to use the 3DS. I've never gotten too attached to any controller, even using the dreaded Wiimote/Nunchuck back in Brawl, and I figure I've gotten used to the 3DS by now.

That said, my brother will probably be using the Gamecube controller, he always uses those.

wouldn't using these wireless controllers have input lag unlike gamecube controller.

Otherwise I would have immediately go for classic controller

Pro controller. I got big fingers so the bigger buttons on the Pro Controller help better than the ones one the GameCube controller imo.

The Wii U Pro Controller will likely be my main controller for Smash Wii U. I have no need for a GameCube Controller, considering that I primarily used the Classic Controller for Brawl.

so what about the input lag with wireless controllers, im trying to decide what to buy. I really want the wii u pro controller battery lifespan. have you noticed any input lag using those controllers?

I'm used to the Wiimote + Nunchuck controls scheme back in Brawl, so I'll most likely gonna use it for Smash WiiU as well. I might also try to use the Gamepad to see how it feels.

I will give the Wii U Pro controller a chance b/c I really love it in other games, but I feel I will end up using the Gamecube controller. It is the best designed controller ever in my opinion.
