I think Brawl will be more balanced than Melee from what we've seen at Efor All, and it does look like Ike needs to be a bit faster, but anyway, even if it's not more balanced than melee, if it's balanced the same as melee, who cares?!?! we have all played melee for years, and we still love playing it, with the addition of new characters and stages, new items and stuff, we will probably be playing Brawl even longer than we have played Melee, regardless of how "balanced" it is
Don't get me wrong, I'm gonna ****in love brawl more than likely. Even if it is unbalanced. I'm just trying to get people to really think about the issue for a change and not just take someone's word for it.

Also, if Brawl is as balanced as melee was that wouldn't be all that bad. There was a lot of diversity in the competitive scene of melee, more than a lot of people realize.

Yes, Sakurai has probably realized his mistakes from Melee and is trying to obtain a better character balance.

Bias still plays a factor in balancing... I heard Sakurai dislikes Wario... so if he's bad...

MookieRah, according to what I read on the Peach board, Gimpyfish didn't experience Peach first-hand and his Peach bio is not perfect. On the Peach thread it is said, among other things, that she cannot DJC (no one can) and her throw isn't necessarily any stronger.

Good, if it's true, however unlikely. I say nuts to the Tiers, play with whoever you're most comfortable with.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'll go read up on that in a bit.
Ike's atttack speed is faster. No more invisi-lag and about Roy speed in attacks seems to be the word from the Japanese.
Is he as strong as he was or is he a bit weaker due to his speed increase? If he is just as strong, then Ike might be broke. Roy's attacks weren't really all that slow, and with that kind of immense strength that would put the melee ganon to shame.

If every character was good, how would you tell? They basically would be all equal, making them regular.

There will always be tiers, anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool. But we can hope that the tiers will be at least as "balanced" as Melee's, which all in all weren't terrible, at least compared to other fighting games. With luck, Brawl's tiers will be close enough to each other that most of the characters will be viable, and none broken-good. Just keep in mind that only so much can done, and that new things that change the balance of Brawl could well still be discovered.

Wrong.
There will always be a tier listings in any competitive fighting game, no matter how close the characters are in terms of speeds, strength or anything.

Right now it looks like MetaKnight is the best character in the game in my honest opinion.

5-8 Jumps (inc. Up B + Glide)
Air Combo ***** with his jumps + Moves
Amazing Final Smash
Also his semi-decent speed.

Now let's compare him to what we know about Ike:
Super Slow
Super Strong
Decent Final Smash
No combos that we know of due to his speed making no one want to play him much.
See what I mean?

If they make patches to SSBB (which I doubt they would do but it's still possible) they could eventually make it so tiers don't exist.

You mean to make them as close to each other as possible, right? To not have tiers is (nearly) impossible...

Considering Gimpy seems to be getting along alright using a low-tier character, even slight balancing would make all characters viable.

I'm pretty sure thats what their going for this time around trying to balance they've more than likely learned from melee mistakes and made improvements accordingly.
