What I have seen so far, this could be the best Smash yet

Granted the hype isn't as great as Brawl with Dojo, etc. but this looks like it is going to be an amazing game.

The levels looked more balance and less full of traps. I always thought the original had best levels and these levels look like they are following the original with large stages, minor traps to intervene, and room to fight.

The roster already looks amazing. I am beginning to believe we will get the Brawl roster (which was the best roster yet) back with some additional great newcomers like Megaman.

Fighting style seems to be a balance between Brawl and Melee. Some of the annoyances of Brawl are gone.

Curious to see what the single player mode will be about.

People who read my posts this summer would be surprised by this post. I was nervous at first but this one is looking good.

Stages alone look great.

Brawl had so many new stages that really just were not that fun. Wario World, Hanenbow, 75m, Glacier, etc. were more pains than fun hazards. At least in Smash 4 it looks like we'll get decent stages.

Personally I found some of Brawl's stages to be pretty fun.

.....while others I found very aggravating.

The stages we've got so far all look great. And it looks like we very well might get no cuts from Brawl, which is a very good thing in my opinion.

I think it looks great so far, characters (how they look, the speed, moves, mechanics, etc.) and stages (Especially the Pilot Wings stage). I am so hyped for it already.

I agree with you!

I personally think Melee had some of the best stages in SSB history. There were some fun ones in Brawl, but I didn't enjoy most of them.

It might not happen, but I am hoping this game can end all of those "Melee vs. Brawl" debates.

Actually I said Smash 64 had the best stages. To me it did. Partly because almost all of them had enough room to have 4 players on it. Most of the stages in Melee and Brawl are too small.

I know, that's why I said I personally think that Melee had better stages in my opinion. Eh, I'll just space it out in my original post to not make it sound confusing. However, SSB64 had amazing stages; I absolutely love Saffron City and Hyrule Castle.

Melee already has the best stage in the series: Big Blue. Then again, Brawl had Luigi's Mansion and Pirate Ship. Three of the best stages in the series. Those stages had hazards in a fun way.

It does look promising but I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic. Brawl burned me hard, man.

As someone who likes Brawl and Melee, this game looks better than those two EVER did, and I'm not even as hyped for this one as I was for those two.

Visually, it's the best looking Smash game yet, and not just because it's on the most powerful hardware a Smash game has been on. It's the character models, the vibrancy, the lighting, the stage designs. Everything looks amazing.

The gameplay also looks like a brilliant marriage of past Smash games. Also, it will most likely be the most balanced game yet.

Well the DK stage, Hyrule Castle, Star Fox, Kirby Stage, Peach Tower, and Metroid stages were great in 64. Plenty of room to do moves.

Melee had too many tiny stages but there were some gems in that one. I liked Peach Castle, Fountain of Dreams, Terminia Docks, Corneria, and Hyrule Temple.

Waiting for Dragon King the Fighters

as a standalone game it will be great.
compared to your favorite smash, which shouldn't be done, especially if you love melee, i'm gonna reserve judgement. personally after brawl, i'd rather they change out a lot of the roster. half of my feeling that way is because I carry that bias from melee. I dropped Link in Brawl, I found it silly Ganon was still so much like Falcon, but still slow and swordless, Captain Falcon was... and Wolf, small differences aside, made me think the spacies were printed from some sort of mold.

Nintendo's got a ton of new and old characters who'd be great in this game. It's a win win since they're starting over from scratch. Introduce long dormant franchises and characters, and don't run the gambit of alienating someone who holds a character very dear. Those little changes mean a world to some people... like me i guess

Exactly, Brawl's felt more like "try not to get killed by the stage, THEN you can fight the opponent" rather than Melee's "fight the opponent, and sometimes avoid the crap that comes on stage".

This exactly. I hate the overly large New Pork City, and 75m and Mario Bros. are probably my least favorite stages in SSB history. I felt as though there were too many gimmicky hazards on the stages in Brawl than there were in Melee. Though, there are some good stages in Brawl.

Definitely, Brawl had some fun stages but overall, the hazards were more annoying than fun to play on.

Brawl's stages felt like a mixed bag to me. I enjoy wacky stages because I like having quirky, over the top matches with my pals. Frigate Orpheon, Halberd, Mario Kart, Pirate Ship and Spear Pillar were all fun to fight on and are amongst my favorite stages in the series. However, some of Brawl's stages were just really obnoxious to play on even for non-serious matches (Mario Bros, Rumble Falls, 75m) and some others were just plain illogical (New Pork City, Hanenbow). They are amongst my least favorite in the series. More than anything though, I was bummed that my favorite Melee stages didn't make it into Brawl and I instead got a bunch of Melee stages I didn't care for.

On topic, though, yeah the stages in SSB4 are looking great and varied. The graphics are delicious and the newcomers are looking very fresh and interesting so far. I'm really eager to hear what the music in this game is going to be like!

I didn't like Halberd, Smashville, Wii Draw, or Hyrule Bridge. All these stages were basically a platform that wasn't big enough for more than 2 people. The levels were too small. The Game & Watch levels from both Melee and Brawl were junk. The Metroid Stages in Brawl were too gimmicky (only one I like is the one that came over from Melee, same with Kirby, the Melee stage is the best).

Wait, why is Bridge of Eldin on that criteria? That stage was massive.

Pictochat was just one of those hazard x1,000 stages that was just plain annoying, but Halberd and Smashville didn't feel that small. It was more of Sakurai not wanting to promote camping.

I don't understand all the hate on NPC. (surprise acronym!) I loved the huge stage and all the air/ledge play that could be done, plus avoiding smash balls was finally possible and zoning opponents was a bit harder.

Alot of people had these feelings about Brawl
Calm down, Brawl didn't exactly set the bar high like Melee and 64 did.

Probably because unlike Hyrule Temple, NPC is just a bunch of disjointed floating platforms with an un-interactive city in the background and an ugly color scheme. It just didnt look or feel good at all to play, and for people who wanted a large stage Hyrule Temple was a much better choice already.

We hyped Brawl because we expected it to be great. Not happening again. I'm going to wait and see how good the game actually is this time around.

LOL, I told you. The gameplay, the combos, the spiking/meteor smashes, and how everything is turning back into more Melee-esk and a hint of Smash 64... it looks amazing.

And even if it isn't, HEY! The game can be better balanced or fixed up with patches, and then glitches can be eliminated.

And if that isn't done properly, WE GOT MODS!!!!
heres to hoping they break tradition and have stages from all 3 and not just brawl
(FREE) DLC! DLC! DLC!

ALL THE STAGES! ALL THE STAGES! ALL THE STAGES!

(yes, even the Training Mode stage from Smash 64, Metal Mario's stage, Battlefield 64, Final Destination 64, the SSE Arena, and the Tabuu fight area)
