Mario Kart is a great example for this. Seeing that the SNES version was awsome, and 64 was incredible. Many people adopted the new however you cant let go of something that was awsome in its own time, but never really outdated.

Then doubledash came out. I stuck with 64.

Kinda like a cute ex girlfriend that you havent seen in a long time that comes to visit.

Using Mario Kart IS a great example...

Although, since I only owned Super Mario Kart at the time, Double Dash!! was pretty well accepted by myself.

Although, I eventually got Mario Kart 64, I downloaded it for the Wii, and it seems okay in comparison to Mario Kart DS.

Anyway, about Brawl and Melee. Brawl will have improvements, but there will still be some who like Melee better, just as there are some today who like the original SSB better.

But I think I've already said this...

I doubt there'll be as drastic of a move as there was between SSB and SSBM.

Looking at SSB and SSBM they are really different. SSBM added tons of characters and stages, and improved the graphics by a lot. (not that it matters, but it made it kind of more enjoyable for me. :p)

I doubt SSBB will be that different. I don't know, though.

We'll have to wait and see what happens, we haven't even played the game!

Brawl has me completely hyped up, when Melee first came out I wasn't as hyped because I was younger. If Brawl can still show what it did with Melee then Brawl will have most of my time consumed as Melee takes a long deserved rest from restless nights of practicing for tourneys.

Another thing that depends on whether people will play Melee (apart from characters removed) is the gameplay speed. If it's toned down like they're saying...people will go back to play melee a lot just for the insanity. Just thought about that today when I was playing.
