What gaming magazines do you read?

I'm currently subscribed to EGM, Nintendo Power, and GamePro... but I'm highly considering unsubscribing from GamePro. It has pretty much the same game coverage as EGM... except EGM is 10 times better, and isn't biased. I don't know how some of you can say EGM is biased. The only thing they ever did to show more support towards X-Box that kind of pissed me off is when they had the comparison between the two systems and they picked X-Box because they thought it had a better future outlook for upcoming software.

I subscribe to nintendo power to find out information about games for the system I own, but egm is far and away my favorite mag.
(sigh) To bad egm dosn't make a game cube exclusive magizine

I myself used to subscribe to Nintendo Power, but they forgot to send me an issue one month, and the content kept getting worse and more ad-filled. Now I don't subscribe to any game mags, I just pick up an issue of this and that every now and then if it looks interesting.

X-Box Official Mag. , Nintendo Power , GamePro , and EGM . I prefere GamePro . It looks alot cool .

Well, I used to subscribe to GamePro and Nintendo Power. After a bit, I got tired of reading about nothing but PlayStation games (this was in the era of Nintendo 64, and there were a lot more PS-X than N64 games), so I let my subscription run out. Nothing but NP for a while, and then I got Game Informer, which was also a lot of stuff I didn't own, but I got a descount at GameStop with it, so that's good. But alas, my GI subscription ran out and I was too lazy to renew it. NP now uses a five star system instead of a 10 point one for ratings, so not only are the reviews biased, but the games get the same reviews. I'm going to resubscribe to GI for the discount, and will probably let NP go out. It's not like the info has been fresh, or at least since I discovered *trumpet fanfare* Planet GameCube!

I get EGM (no regrets) and nintendo power (regretfully). I hate freakin nintendo power. There rating system for games is pure crap. they gave mega men x ( or some crap) a 5 and animal crossing 4's and a 3.5. that is the most unreliable thing i have ever heard of...yet...i continue the subscription. Plus nintendo power is so behind on things. This one time there like (for AC) " and here is a NES, we will tell you what you can do with this next issue!"....well like durr...while EGM said "yeah you can play old nes games on AC" (same months issue..)

i used to subscribe to NP, but i really hated it for the biased rating system.
also, they took away the most "popular game titles section" for the N64, which REALLY made me mad.

what subscriptions should i get now? i dont really know of any good ones besides EGM. btw, what is EGM's webpage and how reliable is it compared to other mags?

It stands for Electronic Gaming Monthly . It's cool mag but not as good as GamePro .

As far as I know EGM is far better than GamePro. Gamepro does have a good rating system but their reviews can be sloppy and they are usually only reviewed by one person (that's what I'm thinking anyway) Plus they are slow to report the lastest things in gaming and usually somebody else gets the good reports while GamePro takes the left overs. EGM has the best game rating system by saying that above five is good and below is crap, all games reviewed by EGM is done by 3 people (occasionally 1 person does the review of a game) and when it comes to reports EGM is right on it with reliable sources and a ton of proof to back their reports. So if you like GP better than EGM that's your opinion, but when it comes to who's better EGM is king!

Note: OH! and if I haven't said so in this topic already I usually read EGM but I also check out all of the other magazines.

That stuff I said was IMO . GamePro has those cool review guys with their cool picture in the corner . I think it just looks alot fancier than EGM . EGM is still a good mag but GamePro's cover catches the constumer's attention better .

Like I said before, I subscribe to NP, I dont care for reviews that much, I have it because its one of the only ones that have indept stratagys. Also, I like reading the letters section, and they have NEVER printed a fulse rumor in the magazine that I have seen.

I also read EGM, I like it, and the reviews are good, in fact the only thing I dont like is the Q-mans section. The Hsu and Chan comics are good, but I havent liked the more recent ones.

hm, i might as well get a subscription to NP and EGM, then.
oh well, ill renew NP and then get EGM after Christmas (hopefully ill do well enough on my finals i wont be grounded)

the only reason i like NP is because of its diversity. it has so many sections, its kewl looking at them all. i just dont like that they cut of their strategies to most games after the 2nd or 3rd issue.

I subscribe to NP, but I want to do the same to EGM.

I really dislike NP's rating system too. EGM's is nice. (Thank you to whomever gave StarFox Adventures a 4.5!)

Plus, EGM is the only magazine where I can read the other systems.

I only read Power Unlimited, which is an exclusive magazine for the Benelux in Europe. PU also has their own program on tv called Game Kings, where they review stuff en check out amazing things and keep you hyped about upcoming games(and reviews).

currently im surscrbing to PSM (am i the only one taht reads it.?) and even though im not surscribed i also read GI (for secound opinion's and GCN, oh and there mostly good.) and offical Xbox Magazine (practially the best xbox mag on the market.) and everyonce in a while ill buy an EGM or a Gamepro, depending on their feature article. Oh and once every blue moon ill buy tips and tricks, but thats when i dont feel like buying the guide.

i used to surscribe to NP, but well...it sucks. Im getting less interested in GCN, and focusing more on ps2 and xbox. oh and they dont have any interesting art. msot of it is jsut copied or pasted.

I really want to find a GBA magazine... i must improve my GBA game collection...

Dude, Game Informer really sucks. Their reviews are horrible, the only thing I like about them is their abundancy of screenshots.

Seriously, if you haven't already, subscribe to EGM. They're amazing, it's a huge magazine (even without all the ads) and have a lot of great interviews and their reviews are arguably the best in the industry.

As you can tell, I support EGM and I subscribe to Nintendo Power for the straight-from-Nintendo news and offers, as well as strategies...

^^ plus EGM has one of the greatest deals. NP is 19.99 for one year, and EGM is 24.97 for 2 years, oh yeah and its the official number one magazine for video games. like dur

That's total BS. EGM are the same people who made that bogus April fools joke about Smash Bros, then they had the nerve to knock on Wind Waker only to realize when they play it how WRONG they were. They do nothing but praise Halo, which I must say is total bull, there are much better FPS's out there. I think the only good thing in EGM is that comic they put in it. I forget what they are called but it's got some guys named Hsu and Chan in it.

EGM always makes the April Fool's jokes; it's one of those things EGM readers expect.

EGM is so much better than Game Informer; their reviews are pretty much on par with my ideas. They also have better review system. Game Informer has so many bickering reviewers that give separate scores (An 8.5 and a 2 for Pokemon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire). GI's reviews system is just completely flawed.

And EGM refuted what they said about Wind Waker after they finally played the game. All the reviewers were talking about how wrong they were to dis the game.

Get NP if you really want strategies, especially if you rent a lot of games.

You're obviously a fanboy, cause their favorite game on the next gen consoles is an xbox game, and zelda got a 9.5.

First of all, yeah they go overboard with the Halo, but every mag sticks by the game they really like. But have you ever played the game? It IS everything they say it is and more. THey used to be obsessed with the Castlevania franchise (like they are halo) and I was sure it would get gold/platinum this month, but it didnt even get silver.

For the april fools joke, yeah it was cruel for the people who tried to get 20 kos in cruel melee, but to compensate for the people who did it they gave away a free copy of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle to the top 5 scores.

I used to get the Nintendo Power Magazine, and I was in the edition with Kirby on it for the Defeat LZeldaOoT with 3 hearts and no continues. Don't know what happened to it now

Uh thanks to CraftStar I read Gamepro as of like a week ago. CS made a post telling us to subscribe for a free year of GP so I did and BAM! I got my first issue about a week ago. I think it's an OK mag I prefer EGM but I never bother to sign up.

Anyone know if GP is reliable or at least moderately respectable?

EGM, I couldn't live without its brilliance. There are multiple reasons; firstly, Shoe! Shoe is perhaps the most hilarious, best reviewer, anything you wanna say in Magazines for gaming! Secondly, you get insanely awesome little features every month like in the November issue there was this article where EGM gave 10-13 year olds a bunch of old games like Donkey Kong, ET, and Handheld Football. There was this hilarious 12 year old who was like "Stop falling in the whole and do something other than this s***!" Gotta love that kind of stuff. The Hsu and Chan comics are sometimes funny, but they seem to be losing their impact now a days. EGM has always seemed to be fair with their ratings and helping me choose with games to buy and which games to tell my friends to buy because I don't rent games

I've just started getting my GamePro magazine free subscription, too. I've never really liked GP but hey, its free. They've always seemed biased against Nintendo games to me, and in favor of PC and Xbox.

Your *** sure don't listen, do you? Throughout the entire time while we waiting for Wind Waker to come out they did nothing but bash the game and said how ****ty it was going to be because it didn't have the coolest "3-D" graphics. They said it was gonna can and they simply stated they were going to stick by that opinion, but low and behold, they actually play and review the game and their opinion suddenly reverses. If anything EGM is nothing more than a bunch of graphic whores, that is until they actually PLAY the game, ya know, the point of a game, game play. What a concept... Fanboy my ***!
