My thoughts on this combo video:
The Combos
-The Combos should be multi-hit
This means that every combo should have a nice, fluid connection between hits. 4 hits should be a minimum for almost every clip. The reason fI say this is because nobody wants to see filler material. If you think about it, the combos have a lot to say about the kind of character Mario is. If the combos are subpar and discontinuous, then the audience’s view of Mario will be negative.
Here is a good video about what I mean of continuous hits.

The combos should be original
-Pretty self explanatory. Just don’t show the same combo over and over again because this is easy fodder for criticism. Humiliate your opponent with your skill and expertise as these are the most fun combos to watch. Another common criticism is “the opponents sucked”. This is almost inavoidible as the opponent is supposed to be the one who is losing for the combo video to be a combo video. Just make sure you aren’t facing a 2-year old baby and you should be fine.
The Hook
-The combo video should have a good hook (or an original beginning) in order to attract and maintain the viewer’s attention.
There are so many ways to do this. The key is to make the hook original and effective.
Here is an excellent example.

In this vid, the creator relied on the Legacy of Marth and the Ken combo from Melee in order to make a bold statement: that Marth is back and better then ever. This effective “hook” gives a lot of incentive for the audience to watch.
The Music
Music should be Catchy
-The music should be enjoyed by a wide variety of people
This seems obvious but I can not tell you how many times I have seen a video with crappy music or overused music. In my own opinion, I think that power metal (like Dragonforce) should be avoided because it is so overused. Catchy “dance” music, rock music, or Mario remixes are the way to go. The Firebolt Remix in DTM1 was an excellent choice and even thought Mario Minor is Power Metal, I think it is still good because it has a lot of Mario connotation to it.
-Make the combos sync with the music
One of the hardest things to do, but if achieved, the payoff is huge. This is impressive because it says a lot about the video. It says that the creator spent a lot of time and care into making the video, and that he wants the viewer to see the very pleased. Bo did a good job in his “Rawkfist of Mario”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rY1_YSFzsZE by syncing the hits with the important parts of thew song. Keep up the good work!
The Editing
-Make it good lol
This is probably the hardest and most time consuming thing to do. I can’t offer much help to you Bo as I would have to work along side with you. Just don’t overdo effects. We want our combos to do all the talking, not some cheap effect.
Here is some good editing:

Good luck guys and show what Mario and this board are made of!!!
