Does anyone else think Pikachu's a little large compared to Charizard? I know they can't be exactly to scale but it looks like Pikachu's head is bigger than Charizards and so is his tail.

Yeah I actually noticed that too. Everyone is closer to an average size this time...just look at how big Sonic is.

"The Pikachu in this mirror is closer than it appears"

Thats Probably a mushroom up'ed Pikachu. It was the picture demonstrating the return of the mushroom. While he maybe in the process of grabbing it, I feel that he's already big just grabbing another for the sake of the mise-en-scene for the update.

Don't be fooled by the Pokémon anime.
Charizard is actually one of the smallest starters, having only 1.7 meter. Go check the Pokédex.

...but Pikachu is supposed to be 40cm tall, so yeah, Pikachu was buffed up.

I don't get why they didn't scale Pika down to Melee Pichu's size. ._.; This Pikachu is just as big as Mario and Diddy Kong now, who realistically would be 4 times Pikachu's size. Melee Pichu size would perhaps be a little too much to ask for, but Brawl Kirby would work out perfectly yet they made Pikachu this extremely big. >_>; Maybe this is some ultra rare mega Pikachu or something..?

yep, i noticed...it's kind of weird to see, but it would make sense considering that the character you select should be scaled up/down to battle face to face with the other characters, with the obvious exception to the big guys who should be bigger like Bowser and DK.

Also (unrelated): my prediction for Zelda is that her DOWN B will be her Light (bow and) Arrows. She had them in WindWaker and Twilight Princess. Since she doesn't turn into Sheik in TP, it wouldn't really follow the theme of the characters being represented in their TP form (what with Link's tin-scrappy looking bombs, Gale Boomerang, and shiny new Bow, and TP costumes for Zelda+Link) if Zelda would transform into Sheik.

I know, she doesn't have Din's Fire, Nayru's Love, and Farore's Wind in TP, but these are powers a princess with the magic of the TriForce would have right?? In any case, I still believe Sheik will be a separate character.

my prediction:
Zelda's Down B = Light Arrows
Sheik to be a separate character

You heard it here, first (maybe).

The characters are made for the enjoyment of the game, this game is not canon anyway.
However, for a pokemon purist, Pokemon, like animals, are all different sizes. If any pikachu was to make it into a brawl like arena, you would think he would be the biggest, baddest, strongest pikachu of them all, dontchu? ;]

All the characters are supposed to be in a certain scale range. We can't have the characters up to scale to what they really are.

I noticed Pika's size straight away in this update. It's sort of weird.

But then again, we don't want Mario squising a to-scale Pikachu with his foot.

You guys make me angry.

Things aren't going to be exactly accurate for the sake of this game.

If this Pikachu in Brawl is the same as Ash's Pikachu (very possible) then I guess it has been raised so much and well, as it stands out from other Pikachu's. Remember the Gold and Silver games, when Ash's Pikachu had a level of 81.

According to SEGA, Sonic is 5-foot eleven.

Why is a hedgehog taller than me?
Since Eggman is twice Sonic's size, this makes him a ****ing giant.

Relative sizes of character models have been changed. I noticed this a while ago in relation to Kirby- Kirby is huge! Compared to Melee Kirby of course. I fear this development will be a new nerf to go against whatever buffs he may have.

One of the only character that seems to have shrunk to me is Zelda. Her frame seems pretty small, relative to other Brawl characters. Does anyone else have any observations?

Your just now noticing size situations? What about Kirby being half the height almost everyone when he is only 8 inches tall in his games.

If you thinks that's weird look at Mario and Snake side by side.

It's not Ash's Pikachu, because it comes out of a Pokéball.
And the trainer in GSC is Red, not Ash. Completely diferent.

The Pikachu in this case is on steroids and the Charizard in this case is a ******. :p

Nah, seriously, the game would be very weird to play if they made every character their actual size.
I mean, take for example Super Mario 64 Bowser vs a true-sized Pikachu. It wouldn't work, really, it wouldn't. Hence, some resizing.

About Kirby though, I like his small size very much! Crouch Canceling FTW! :p

I checked Charizard, he's only 5'07. But Pikachu is only 1'04!

R/B/Y is Red actually, G/S/C is Gold.

But yes, he is actually based off of Ash's Pikachu. Hence the voice.

Is scale a valid argument for anything. Look if Bowser was to scale he would already be as big as Giga Bowser. I don't quite understand people complaining about scale.

Scale is relevant not because of any fanboy consistency reasons, but rather because the size of the character models affects how they handle and respond to combos.

I'm surprised nobody posted this screen shot:

Even if Charizard is actually smaller than what the anime makes him out to be (which I was surprised to find out today, but I find totally cool), that screenshot of Giant Charizard is a better size comparison between him and Pikachu, heh.

Yeah I'm surprised Charizard's almost a foot taller than me and apparently Sonic's supposed to be taller than Charizard :p. It would be hilarious to see Super Mario Sunshine Bowser vs 6" Kirby. Or frickin Ridley against any of them.

how many times does it have to be said...these are NOT the characters...they are TROPHIES of the characters, therefor NOT to scale
