Yeah. Shieldstabbing is when you hit the parts of your opponent that are sticking out from the shield that is getting smaller. The shield is only reliable when it is large. A good way to avoid shieldstabbing is to hold down the shield button lightly to reduce the rate at which it gets smaller.

I wish more Marths would do this to me so I could shield-grab them more. I can imagine no situation I'd be in where I would be standing in front of a Marth waiting for the first hit of an nair to hit that he couldn't just run up and grab me out of.

It's also likely that most characters can jab out; this doesn't provide much advantage except at high damage.
