Weird Down Air Physics?

Sometimes after I am hit up with a move, I'll use down air, but I wont go down, it will just put the hit box out. Anyone know why this happens?

This happened in Brawl and it's related to being in knockback.

It's probably to stop people surviving vertical knockback moves at ridiculous percents - imagine if Dair worked how it normally did when someone hit you really hard vertically...

Also happens to characters Like Zamus, TL, etc. with similar Dair properties.
