I just feel like since he wasn't a ket player in the last big Zelda title (Skyward Sword) he might not return for this round. What makes you so sure he WILL be back :p Haha
Because, on the small end of things, he's already been in two games and was the second most important antagonist in the SSE behind Tabuu and, on the large end of things, he's Nintendo's second most important villain. He's Ganon in human form and Ganon has been the main Zelda villain in all but three of the main Zelda games (Majora's Mask, Minish Cap, and Skyward Sword) and, let's face it, Demise was pretty much Akumadorf and the game even states that he reincarnates as Ganondorf later. Ganondorf is too important to the Zelda franchise as a whole to simply drop and, as others have said, getting rid of him would make about as much sense as dropping Bowser.

I'm just saying that I could see him being left out for the Ghirahim/Demise character. I know he's the biggest villain in Hyrule history, but that doesn't mean he has a guaranteed spot. The Zelda models for Brawl were based on the most recent title at the time, TP, so I could happen that they want to focus in the SS crew. What I'd really like is for them to include both Ganondorf and Ghirahim. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I agree that G-dorf probably won't be scrapped, but I still think there's a decent chance it could happen.
Except Link isn't based on SS design in this new Smash. Q_Q

Alright, so I decided to actually read your cut character suggestions and these were the ones that stuck out the most to me:

"Mr. G&W is a strange man/thing, and not a very popular one at that. With his two dimensional body and bizarre variety of attacks (sausages?) I can see him getting dropped form the roster to be replaced by a better know character from Nintendo's past, or maybe he's already been replaced by the somewhat odd choice of Wii Fit Trainer."

Why? He's a unique character that represents his own franchise with a unique moveset that adds something completely different to the game. He was also Nintendo's very first mascot and represents Nintendo's first step in the video game market. Your arguments against him seem to be that he's old and he's weird, but I don't see how these are relevant in the grand scheme of things. Why dump one of the most unique characters in the game? Most of these arguments apply to ROB too.

"Smash's sexiest fighter (With Mr. Game & Watch coming in a close second) may not make the cut simply because she is an alternate version of an existing character. Even though she has a completely different move set I can see her getting the boot so the Smash team can give more attention to classic Samus and maybe... Ridley? Not to mention that we've already seen Samus unleash her final smash in the Smash Bros E3 trailer and there is no sign of her armor hitting the floor."

She's not an alternate version of the character, she IS the character. It's simply Samus with her armor off and it could be argued that this is the "real" Samus. The logic of the underlined sentence irks me something fierce because the game is still a ways off and, using this logic, Yoshi and Zelda aren't in the game because they hasn't been shown yet. Also, it would be weird for them to backtrack on such a thing, essentially sealing her back in her armor especially when Other M made such a large (but arguably failed) attempt at developing the character outside of her bounty hunter role.

"Let's hope that if Nintendo decides to double up they go for the Majora's Mask Link and not this adorable scalawag."

This statement is pretty ironic given how you use relevancy as a major argument against ROB, GW, Ike, Lucario, Lucas, and Ganondorf.

Well...

Mr. Game and Watch - I have nothing against him and I enjoy playing as him, he's jsut always that character that people ask "Who is that? What is he from" Not that that's a bad thing either, I love to research Nintendo's past, but if they HAD to cut some people I could see them droping him (and ROB) for some more well known characers.

Zero Suit - Well she may be "the" character but she's an alternate version of the origiainl Samus from the Smash Bros series. Fewer people know of her in that form and therefore she is less known. I've met people who didn't even know you could select her form the main screen. I could see her getting cut so they could put in a more popular character. I do agree that you are right that it's an early build of the game, so the footage probably is relevent to the final game. Touche!

Toon Link - I was just saying if they go for two Links I would hope for MM Link, I never said he was more relevent. I just like him a lot. I like all the character in Brawl! Well maybe not Yoshi :D

I guess I'm just trying to look at this from Nintendo's point of view. If they wanted to push some of the popular folks they haven't yet featured in a Smash game I could see them droping those ten IF THEY HAD TO. I don't want any of them to go if they don't have to.

Great feedback! Everyone seems to be focusing my cuts articles, I guess I should have forseen that. Haha :D

If we were to be completely honest with ourselves, Brawl probably wouldn't have progressed past 20 characters if the focus was to only have characters known by the general public based on the games they play and those they ignore. This pretty much means Brawl's cast would have basically been:Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, DK, Diddy, Yoshi, Wario, Link, Zelda (no Sheik), Ganondorf, Toon Link, Kirby, Pikachu, Pokemon Trainer, Lucario, Jigglypuff, and Sonic. That would leave a whopping 19 characters on the cutting room floor because they're considered "obscure" by the majority of casual players who buy Nintendo games. It also doesn't help that Sakurai has emphasized multiple times through out the years that popularity was very low on his priority list compared to personality and uniqueness when it comes to implementing characters into Smash Bros.

It's ridiculous to say that they are likely to cut Ganondorf. Heck, it's ridiculous to say there is any chance they cut ganondorf. He's the MAIN VILLAIN of the series. Cutting him would be tantamount to cutting bowser.
