For those of you who dont live or go to school in South Georgia (which is probably EVERYBODY who's on this forum), or North Flordia (which is alot of people), you are lucky.

This smoke, is officially ********.

____

For the people who have been out of the loop, for the past month or so, there have been forest fires in Waycross Georgia. The fires are apparently huge, so the firefighters are only containing the fire. They are also controlling the burning so that they can clear brush and shrubs in the area (Purifying land; something i learned that even the Indians did in my US History before 1865 class last week. Maymester sucks too)

This fire has been predicted to go on for months

And for the past month, whenever the wind shifted, my town, Valdosta, would be covered in light smoke, and we could smell smoke.

It's never been too bad, but lately it's just getting..... ********.

Yesterday, while mindlessly wandering around town lookin to see if Odin Sphere came out early anywhere, I noticed that ASHES WERE FALLING OUT OF THE ****ING SKY. I'm not kidding, although it's probably worse than it really sounds when you read that. But yes, yesterday there were ashing falling out of the sky, like a town in some bad anime. (Actually, i'd swear this is from an anime, but I cant think of which one it is)

But today..... oh man. I woke up early this mornin cause I couldnt sleep (My ACs broken, so it's 86 degrees in here, ****ing college), and upon waking up, I didnt say "**** it's 86 degrees in here still", cause I was too distracted by the blaringly abundant smell of smoke.

So I roll outta bed, without my glasses on, and I cant see a **** thing outside. Nothing but smoke. I'm like "WTF m8". So I grab my glasses, and yeah, visibility is terrible.

_____

And here I am, ranting and raving because it's smokey as **** outside.

Smokey the Bear must have gotten mugged last month, cause this fire is getting ********.

--sigh--

Im not too upset, surprisingly. Odin Sphere drops today, and if I get lucky, maybe classes will get cancelled so I dont have to cram for an exam 2morrow. Just maybe.

____

For the record, last saturday, the smoke was apparently so bad that it reached all the way to Mexico. No, not some crazy *** hick town named Mexico, Georgia; im talkin about that whole big frickin country under us..... FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF GEORGIA.

Something tells me it's gotta go farther today.

_____

That's it, im done ranting.

Smackie the Frog will save you....and then we will put him in a mayonnaise jar with a stick and a leaf to replicate what he is used to.

Man I really miss Mitch :(

Also, I think the ashes falling from the sky thing is from the Silent Hill movie.

Funny thing, every fall, it gets almost as smoky as you described it and a few seasons it was raining black ash. It last 2 to 4 weeks max so it's not nearly as bad, but I get where you coming from.

I've caught my hair or eyebrows on fire lighting things before so I feel your pain too in some remote ****ed up way.

I live in really mountainy desert area-- just like the Road Runner and Coyote cartoons. We get fires every year. It's sad, but really cool looking to be driving around at night and see fire on the mountains all around you. It's just like red streams of light in the distance.

You described perfectly how the sky looked and always smelled like campfire.

I think it'd be cool if it rained ash here in San Francisco. Everything would be white, but the dry, smoky smell would be lessened due to the fog.

And is there enough ash for ash angels?
