I'm sorry, I am new to this forum and I can imagine there have been numerous amoutns of threads like this, but I really need some help. I'm completely unable to waveshine. I can wavedash perfectly, but I simply can't get ahold of waveshining. I always end up doing Fox's illusion..

I have seen many waveshining videos, but they've never been really informative. It's like, "yeah.. shine then wavedash, then shine then wavedash.." -__-

So, can anyone help, please?

Your pulling your finger to far over. Do it in a pattern type motion wavedash from angled slope then back a little down. First do the wavedash then the shine, start out slow until you feel comfortable then try to do it faster.

As it happens, I have been practising and I kind of have it right now. Obviously, not perfect, but I can do it for the length of Final Destination. But, my only problem is, everytime I try it on an opponent, I can't wavedash afterwards. I can shine them, but no matter how fast I move my fingers around the control pad, I cannot wavedash afterwards. Am I doing something wrong? Or does this not work in the UK version? I don't know.. o.O

Have you ever noticed that it's impossible to jump out of a shine with falco at the same speed as with Fox? If you shine and jump IMMEDIATELY you will not leave the ground. This is because there's a certain number of frames of the shine during which you can't do anything (very few). When you actually hit an opponent with any move, the frames take a bit longer to elapse because the program has to run the enemy's reaction to being hit at the same time as it runs the attacker's frames. Therefore, you have to jump a split second later when waveshining an opponent than when waveshining on FD with nobody around. At least, this is my analysis.

the reason why there's so many threads like this is because people practice waveshining for like a week and cant get it and expect they're doing something wrong. just practice, it'll come to you eventually.

you have to get the hang of it, its like a nack

exactly! haha it took me about a week to learn it what i did was try and use a rythm while im waveshining but meh there are plenty other ways to learn it.

also kiyoru if your illusioning that might mean your pushing the control stick too far. try to slow it down a bit and do it step by step.

hm, well I made a video of my "waveshining" and I may have it .. I'm not sure, so I need an opinion from someone who can actually do it.

the video is here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lrdTcodHHo
I watched the vid and it's clear that you haven't fully perfected wavedashing yet. Get that down to a pinch before trying to waveshine.

Oh, and you have to take a few steps after your wavedash before shining the opponent again; that's why you can't waveshine an actual opponent.

Waveshining nothing and waveshining an opponent is different. When you waveshine an opponent, you have a few frames of hitstun in which you can't leave your reflector, so you actually have to waveshine -slower- than normal.
