Hey everyone, I really need a good description on HOW to wavedash. I have been practicing this lately and I just can't seem do get it down. I feel like it's cause I'm not doing it right? I just want a good description of how to do this. Please help me out guys.

To wavedash, jump, and then the moment you leave the ground, airdodge down and at an angle. If you're doing it correctly, you'll slide. The timing is a little different for each character because they take different amounts of time to leave the ground (compare Fox to Ganondorf).

The input is jump (most pros use y, I use x, I wouldn't try to WD with tap jump though) -> control stick down and angled -> L/R.

Look up the Advanced How To Play videos if that doesn't help.

When I learned stuff like this, I would painstakingly go into training mode and practice is at 1/4 speed, then speed it up to 1/2, then to 2/3, then finally full speed.

Also, I found it helpful to also practice wavelanding (which is sliding into the ground via air-dodge which moves the character like wavedashing).

Luigi is easiest to wavedash, a lot of folks use him first to get the concept. But spend most of your time finessing your main.

Took me a while to master it and successfull apply this to my playstyle, but once you figure it out you will find it to be very helpful. Also it probably would have been better to post this in the melee boards....
