so the other day got to thinking and i was like hmmm........
what would happen if they put an actual water stage you know like where could
fight under water without falling and loosing a life

and if we did would it be like slow mo melee of it would it be just like anyother stage?

how would jumps work?

and the one question im sure you all are thinking about(or not)
will goldeen finally do something in this stage

tell what you all think peace

that sounds good that would be cool to have a stage like it would such a different feel to how we as the players can play

Well, it might have lower gravity, like Adventure mode Battlefield and maybe some fish or something for stage hazards.
The fish can be platforms.

Just think of this as Big Blue but stationary. I think it would be a great stage.

This has been discussed before. I can't imagine how knockback would work underwater, and yeah, certain characters would (realisticly) be nerfed underwater. Roy's sword couldn't generate fire, Bowser couldn't blow fire, Zelda and Ness couldn't conjure fire, Young Link's arrows would go out, Bombs would be snuffed, Mario and Luigi couldn't shoot Fireballs and certain projectiles would slow down. Arrows, boomerangs, missiles (they might become torpedoes), and turnips would float away.
And of course, Pikachu would damage everyone in the water with any one of his electrical attacks. No, not gonna happen.

Something like slow motion mode but a tad faster maybe. I like the idea about using fish as platforms. But characters like Bowser wouldn't be able to use fire unless they defy physics so we probably won't see a stage like this.

HAVEN'T YOU GUYS EVER PLAYED MARIO??!! Fire in the water DOES work!!! It wouldn't change much-In zelda, there is underwater bombs. Yah, projectiles would be slowed down, but so? If it was a Mario level, then it'd be really fun! Infinite jumps-I say yes to. And there can still be pits and such. All they have to do is make it so that there is a hazard in the air...or water...that would chase after someone who lingers at the top or in the middle for to long. It could work.

Well considering they have levels that take place in deep space, what makes you think they would suddenly decide to make any shred of sense with their levels?

I can see it now.

Best swimmers: Kirby and Jigglypuff (using their inflate ability), Bowser (turtle like), Fox (canine)

Bad swimmers: Falco (base off a bird that can't swim), Link and Samus (too much unnatural weight), Sonic (do you really need to know why)

Levels with some water I think will be seen. In Rumble Falls, DK is standing in a big puddle in a screenshot.

Maybe if the Distant Spring from Pikmin became a stage, we'd have some shallow water to fight in, which would slow movement I'd assume.

I'd love to see shallow pools. An all-water stage would be weird, but I'm interested.

This stage sounds great and yes, Goldeen should own everyone in this level instead of being useless. Water stage FTW!

Well if you went to far in the bottom and die. Then marth and falco and everyone else who have spikes that arent meteor would dominate the water lvl.

I have always wanted a slower underwater stage with something close to zero-g.
yeah i know, i have thought about it too. What if there was an underwater ice level or something, you could hit pieces of wall and new paths would open, or water would flow out

would be awesome but i doubt it. maybe next game? as for goldeen it does do something. in fact it's the bast Pokemon in the game. if you release it on a platform and when it falls off if someone is under it instant ko.

Infinite jumps doesn't hold up... most characters have pretty normal second jumps, but what about Yoshi, Mewtwo, etc? If characters can double jump over and over Yoshi would become rediculously powerful with his DJC... not that I'm complaining ;)

Underwater stage... yes. Change in physics to accompany it... no. Who cares if you can use fire underwater? It's a video game... and one stage of it at that.

Sounds a bit unlikely in general though... I doubt it will happen.

Exactly. The makers of Mario don't care. They've done it, and they can do it again lol

I waited a while, so if this double posts, sorry, I don't know how to multiquote over 2 pages :(

No, there is no possible way to make goldeen hurt someone, dont tell people all over the internet what you think if you have not tested it..

There is a video of something happening and someone getting "killed" from a goldeen, but it is an invisible jigglypuff using rest. =P

yeah, and they also already showed goldeen as a pokemon, and sakurai still commented about it being the same

They could make a stage that has a main platform that always stays above the wtaer, and two mini platforms that move up and down through the water. so if you want to escape a final smash above water or items that spawn on the mini platforms and when they get underwater they float so smaller characters can use it as a platform. if the crate of barrell broke open all the items would drift to the bottom if they were heavy

I agree many games ignore certain aspects of reality to be more fun so why not Smash brothers, I myself wouldn't mind an underwater stage or even a half land half water stage. The water could enter into the arena after an environment switch is activated or something but at the same time you could punch holes in the walls to release water from the arena.

That's perfect! A stage like that would own.

speaking of thunder we need to solve the pikachu problem. we could make it so that when he does shoot it, it does more damage, when fire is used, it does less damage.

Pikachu's Final Smash would be strengthened to epic proportions if the water was realisticly conductive
