Hi, I've been trying to wall jump for quite a while now, but I can't seem to get it right. I can wall jump off the fin thing on Corneria just fine, and on Young Link's BTT as well. I've tried wall jumping off of the edges on Yoshi's Story but I can't seem to do it.

Can anyone give me a rundown on walljumping?

The mechanic works as follows

press the direction opposite of the desired wall to be jumped off of

IF you are touching the wall (touching collision boxes) then you will walljump (with a character than can walljump at least)

If not then you failed

basically DI into the wall and press away

you'll get more of a feel of when exactly you're touching the wall and can walljump the more you do it

Thanks! I pretty much got the finger movement down now. I didn't know you had to Di towards the wall.

Lol pichu's wall-jump is hella ugly.

And yeah, walljumping is a wicked nice stall with falco. especially when used with shine stall.

That was the walljump I was talking about other wise please sound me some sexy mario, YL, fox use of walljumps i've also done some walljump stuff as pichu not seen. on that video.

You just don't understand why pichu is fun to play as mindgames up combos on FFers, and good at avoiding stuff so you can have some cooldown.

does anyone know if there exists a sort of walljump lockout if you do it wrong? i remember filming revolution i came across a problem on peach's castle, where if i was standing next to a wall, jumped, and then tried to press away to walljump, it wouldn't work at all.

i think if you're standing next to a wall before you jump, you have to fade away from it, then touch it again before you can walljump off.

I don't think so lovage. I remember seeing SS do a wall jump straight from the ledge unless dropping from the ledge doesn't count as touching wall

Pichu is indeed fun to use vs fast fallers. I used him in teams for lulz

No, Lovage is right. Where did you see SS do that jump? Yoshi's, I'm guessing? If you look carefully, you'll see that Yoshi's ledge has a bit of a lip to it - you're *not* touching the wall when you hang from the ledge. This is the only reason you can Scar jump from this ledge. I'm pretty sure it's impossible to Scar jump after dropping from any ledge over a sheer wall, like the rock cliff on Stadium.

You can still Doraki walljump, however - Falcon actually automatically Doraki walljumps from sheer walls if you quickly hit away on the control stick while he's hanging on the ledge. If it wasn't a Scar jump on Yoshi's, then this is what you saw.

i don't think it's technically a doraki walljump as much as just an instant walljump but i could be wrong

i'm not sure you keep your double jump after a doraki (but again could be wrong)

I thought you did keep your second jump after a doraki wall-jump?

Yeah, you do keep your second jump. Also, Doraki is the only way to do an instant walljump, so I figured the terms were interchangeable.

However, after going back and fooling around in training mode, I partially take back what I said - Falcon doesn't do an automatic Doraki, per se - but it is absurdly easy to accidentally Doraki with him - probably because of his size, or at least the shape of his hitbox. For the same reasons (combined with the way he hangs off the ledge), however, he can't seem to Doraki at all on most tournament legal stages.

So yeah, he doesn't automatically walljump off of sheer walls, but it can seem that way because he is almost always "ready" to Doraki after grabbing a ledge like that.
