VS mode without a computer or 2nd player

Are you asking how to do it?
1. select a character and don't have an opponent set
2. Change game mode to time
3. Have about 10 or so tags. Don't have any more than that
4. (Do this quickly) select a name
5. Hold b
6. Scroll down to create name
7. Hit a on the exact frame that the game would normally return you to the previous menu screen. Instead of going back to the menu or going into create name, it brings you to the stage select screen

I prefer to have only 1 tag, I find that easiest.
but regardless, the timing is difficult, it usually takes me a few tries to get it.
this glitch is very helpful to practice movement and such.

If you use the ice climbers alternatively you can freeze glitch your opponent and put him somewhere on the screen where they won't bother anyone

Kinda Sorta OK at Smash
If you have a wii you should just get the 20XX mod. You can train stuff WAY better than that and you don't have to worry about getting the glitch right every time. All you have to do is get the mod running once and you are golden.
