The thing is, couldn't we just use a regular stage as the first stage? Like, let's say Castle Siege. It changed into three different types of stages in a set order (not random like Pokemon Stadium) so no one character has an advantage in the terrain. I don't think we really need a custom stage to do that. Although personally I do like the current system.
Yeah, definitely. I just figured that a custom stage would warm more people up to the idea. I'd be for something like Smashville as the first stage, though I'm not familiar enough with all the stages yet to pick one for sure.

Honestly, I think that it's better to have a static first stage that's consistently better for X characters than to have a random stage. It's a much better way to design a competition to have character selection after the stage is known. Sorry for getting off topic.

I don't see any real negatives for using a custom stage in tournaments, unless the host(s) choose/create a very poor stage. Getting the stage on everybody's wii shouldn't be difficult. It can be copied over when you check to see if the save data meets the specifications.

My reasoning is actually stupid. I'd rather not start using user-created content because I think it starts feeling less like a Smash Bros. competition and more like a competition to a game we're trying to create ourselves. It's really not a good argument at all. I like the idea of working with what we're given more than starting things from scratch. Even Halo 3 at MLG seems to just take what's given to them and maybe change weapon placement or small things on the stage to balance. Sadly, we can't do that (like remove the canonballs on Great Sea or remove the starman granted for winning sometimes in WarioWare).

The idea of a stage that is always used for the first game of a set seems reasonable enough though. I'd definitely disagree with anyone who says it should be Final Destination though.

The more good, balanced, fun, and original stages, the better. And smash bros. is whatever you make it. I really want to see some unique stages in the tournament scene.

And Firestorm88, the cannonballs aren't that bad. They hardly do any damage, at all. The only real bad "interference" with a smash stage is definitely the Ultimate Chimera. Klap Traps are somewhat bad, along with somg Wario Ware randomness! >_<

It would be nice to see like 3-5 consistent stage designs for CP, maybe voted upon by the community.
