So I was wondering what you guys and gals think the voice acting in SSB4 should/will be like.

Some notes.
1: The voice acting for the Pokemon in the series is only partly dubbed. Of the playable pokemon in Melee, only Jigglypuff was dubbed. In Brawl ,all the playable Pokemon were dubbed except Pikachu and Charizard.
2:Rver since Metroid Other M and Star Fox 64 3D Nintendo has started to use VA's from Los Angeles instead of Seattle. The exceptions are the Wii RPGS trilogy (dubbed in the UK), Pokemon (Dubbed in New York.) and Mario (still dubbed in Seattle though Mario, Luigi, wario, etc are dubbed in Los Angelas)
3: Expect voice changes from Brawl to SSB4.

Behind the voice actors.com has a fairly comprehensive list of VA's in the Smash series.

I'm still curious about what they're going to do about Marth and either or not they'll give him an English voice actor. Was Marth given a voice in Fire Emblem Awakening?
No. None of the DLC or legacy Spotpass characters are voiced.

I posted this in the Marth thread, and I'll say it here again:

Marth should be given an English voice actor now, and Takamaru (assuming he gets in) should be given the Japanese voice.

I think we should be able to switch between the Japanese/Englishs VAs like you can in SF4.

You could do that in melee.

only in the film in brawl its some one different

I forgot to mention, after TAJ productions (the company who recorded Pokemon from 2006 to 2008) went out of business, the current dubbing company (Duart) started bringing back old voice actors like Rachel lillis' Ted Lewis, and Sean Schimeal, who voiced lucario in movie 08.

Not without switching everything to Japanese. I just want a voice switcher like in SF4. Also, you couldn't do it in Melee.
I understand.

If Sonic returns, Roger Craig Smith will be taking over the role from Jason Griffith, that's certain. Whether or not that's a good thing is subjective.
I'd actually love if they just reused Fox's voice clips from Melee. I loved that voice.
Richard Yearwood should provide Donkey Kong's voice. I'm not even kidding. It'd be better than his Scooby Doo voice, at least.

Agreed.

Granted, I see Takamaru having a very low chance of getting in (but stranger things have happened) but since Marth has actually had an English release of one of the FE titles he showed up in I think he should have an English voice actor.

Takamaru speaking English wouldn't make much sense, considering he's:
  • ...from a Japan-only game
  • ...a samurai
Marth should speak English now that he has games released in English. Hire the same actor that portrayed him in the English dub of the FE OVA... I think his name was Spike Spencer, who has been credited in the new FE too, as far as I know.

Pit should keep his voice actor from Uprising. Definitely liked his Uprising voice better than Brawl's.
Meta Knight should keep his voice actor from Brawl as he sounds great in my opinion.

^ THIS. Marth's Japanese voice threw me off when I first played as him.

Should Hades appear in SSB4, he must keep the same actor from Uprising: Scott Bollock.

Also, Black Shadow should be voiced by Norio Wakamoto if he makes in as a character (could be playable, AT or other kind of cameo) with spoken lines.

Just bring everyone's voice actors/voice actress from their latest games. For the Star Fox characters, Star Fox 64 or GTFO (although Krystal's voice actress can stay). And keep Meta Knight's voice actor the same! I like him as a mini-Darth Vader.

That means no Brawl Pit, no Brawl Sonic (yeah new Sonic voice actor), and definitely, definitely keep David Hayter as Snake!

If Takamaru is playable, this is okay by me. If not, keep Marth's voice the same (Japanese only).

Make everyone's voices the way they were in their most recent games unless I don't like those voices!

Logic.

Although I will agree WTF did the they do Wolf in Brawl? I actually liked his voice in Assault (I actually like Assault more than 64 but I'll admit I'm in the minority there). Not sure why they need to give him a new voice every time he shows up though.

I'd except new voices for the Star Fox cast.

And I liked the voice acting in assault.

Wolf's Assault voice was technically better (from a voice actor point of view) than in Star Fox 64, but by God, just that specific tone the Wolf voice actor from Star Fox 64 uses is amazing, and lead to some classic lines. Of course, there was one in particular that was the hands down best. Although, quite frankly, "NO WAY! I DON'T BELIEVE IT!" is terribly underrated.

But yeah, if Wolf's Assault voice actor was used, I would be fine with that. His Brawl voice was just... awful, cheap, and tacky, like a lot of things in Brawl. As for the rest of the Star Fox crew, I though the voice actors for Slippy, Peppy, Falco, and Fox were clearly the best in Star Fox 64.

Also, Sonic's new voice actor is balls. He's such a BAMF, he ain't afraid of no stinkin' government.

To be honest, I really didn't notice much of a difference between Assault and N64 actors. Aside from N64 actors being given memicly hilarious lines while the Assault dialog and acting was just kinda average.

I prefer his Adventure 2 VA, but I'll be honest that that's heavily nostalgia influenced. IMO his Colors voice actor is fine.

The Colors actor is the same one in that clip (I believe that clip is from Colors). He does a better job than Ryan Drummond (the guy who did Sonic in SA2).

Also, that same voice actor who now does Sonic (Roger Craig Smith) does Captain America's voice in the cartoons Captain America is in, Ezio in Assassin's Creed, Chris Redfield in Resident Evil, several soldiers' voices in multiple MGS games (ironic since Snake says he is indifferent to Sonic), and several other voice roles as well.

It is. I'm just saying that I'm really used to his SA2 voice, even if the new voices are better.

Trust me, I know my Sonic.

The SA2 voice actor pretty (Ryan Drummond) said he was done with Sonic.

But if it really bugs you brah, you always can Brawl Vault that and replace his Brawl voice actor with that. Because my God the Brawl voice actor for Sonic is pretty mediocre brah.

What about Samus's voice actor from other m?
Actually, she is a good voice actor. Other M's designers just called for....what we got in Other M.

I'd like to see her take the role of Samus again, but with better guidance.

Mewtwo getting voiced by Cristina Vee would make think of Nu-13 instantly.

I think most of the actors will remain the same for the most part based of their recent games.. At least Fox and Krystal, IMO, will have their actors from Assault/Brawl. Starfox 64 3D got the original Fox and Slippy back to complement the remake - the audio would've been way too low quality to just take it from the N64 version.

Though I am partial to Cindy Robinson doing Krystal. I just can't picture Todd Haberkorn doing Fox. Doesn't suit Fox, IMO. Jessica Martin returning is a must. It helps she interacts with the fanbase from time to time.

Lastly, Bowser, DK, and Diddy need their actual voices.

This was brought up in a MYM discussion about this very subject a long awhile back, even though it would be highly unlikely due to how high profile he is compared to the other possible Smash VAs - Tim Curry would make the perfect K. Rool.

Have him do the Hexxus voice for the King, Captain Hook voice for the Kaptain and Pennywise voice for the Baron.
