Me vs Europhoria (Marth) - http://www.justin.tv/magicsauc3/b/265208212
Me vs RaynEX (Fox) (*Match 1 only) - http://www.justin.tv/magicsauc3/b/265206890
Me vs I.B. (Marth) - http://www.justin.tv/magicsauc3/b/265208514

This was just last weekend, and after this I wanna main fox, but its in need of serious work, and hopefully the fox boards can help. I get mad nervous when I play people better than me, and it shows vs I.B. lol. Advice, specific or general, is much appreciated, feel free to (constructively) rip on me aswell, I can take it, :)

P.S. I have a lot more tech-skill than these videos show, so I'm not limited in that aspect, its more my "decision-making" that needs work, although when i get nervous i fail at easy techniques (but this will fix itself with time)

I asked for advice, but people wouldn't give it to me because of the quality of the matches.

You should've put them on youtube.

Also, ban FD.

I've watched you vs imadh and some of bernard so far. In general, you keep trying to do that same full hop approach. That is really bad, since they can/will just DD -> grab you when you are landing. You also are really passive vs them and don't take advantage of some openings that you are given/created. Instead you DJ onto the top platform and run away a lot. You almost always want to be approaching from the ground so that you aren't over-committed to moves. On top of that, placing SH d-air is your answer to CC when you are approaching to the ground. So, DD until you can find a decent time to attack and then make the best of it. If you see them shield, then grab. You don't have to put pressure if you can just grab them.

You also need to work on doing standard/basic combos. You fail them a lot (drill -> shine/grab -> etc).

vs imadh, you were pretty much ****ing up everything and then getting death combo'd by him. Not like perfect combos or anything, but you never regain control when he drops combos.

You undershoot a lot of moves and seem to be afraid of him when fighting. You also need to stop stalling/doing stupid things on the ledge. Decide quickly or perfect ledge WD because it's always safe. Imadh also always catches you when you try to run away from him. Be careful and be prepared to shield/CC sometimes. Also aim your moves better, because you miss a lot or look like you are just hoping that they hit. You also never attempted to grab at all.

vs bernard, you dropped a lot of tech chases and combo opportunities. Also, not taking advantage of potential grabs that come up sometimes when he was messing up tech skill. I think you could've won the first match because he was playing really bad. Game 2, you barely ever u-air and it's pikachu's best (if not only) move. When you stall the ledge and people approach, you don't try to u-air and go for the gimp. If the opportunity arises, then you should take it.

more later. Camilo is distracting me.

Edit: vs mike, I see a lot of times after you L-cancel your whiffed aerial, you WD after. It's always faster to dash away. Doing a WD can put you at greater risk of getting grabbed/hit. You also really need to work on u-throw -> u-air. You fail it a lot. Also, when you're following getups and your opponent is on a platform, you are making it difficult for yourself because you always get on the platform and try to follow them and then miss when they roll, or get hit by a getup attack. You can make it easy if you just stand under the platform and then u-air/b-air/d-air them when they get up. You also don't keep pressure well.

awesome, thanks for taking the time to analyze the matches, i see there's a lot for me to work on, i made note of everything you said and hopefully I'll be able to apply most of it by next weekend.

The full hop approaches and running away was mostly cuz i know my regular tactics don't work on you guys cuz you always see them coming, so i decided everytime i felt like approaching with a short hop nair, to instead just waveland, lol. kinda stupid now that i look back at it,

i'm sorry :( i feel like im a part of this since i posted fastest, happening to be awkae at the time. i really like watching your matches and usually learn something from them, the quality was just SO BAD on those justin.tv recordings that i couldnt learn anything nor help point towards something you could improve on.

regardless, sauc3, unknown provided a lot of extremely good advice, as usual. the only thing i have to add, i think, is a question that most of us would benefit from a comprehensive answer to:

say you're playing fox (or falco, i think it's about the same for this question) and a marth is doing his usual disgusting CG/utilt/fsmash combos on you on FD. you're at, say, 30-40% and he misses the regrab. he jump cancels it properly but is slightly short, and you tech away. what the **** do you do to stop him from grabbing or dash attacking you again on reaction?

anyway. as much valuable advice as he provided, i think telling you not to be nervous is the best. i find that every time i'm playing a marth and i spot dodge or jump away or whatever looks like the safest move, i get hit because my opponent is expecting it. learn what your best 2 or 3 defenses are in each situation and make sure you use them unpredictably. that way you'll only get followed/tech chased like... half the time instead of all of it.

np. Show me what you learned tmrw.

Don't be afraid of people. That's the hindrance of most of our players.

no need to apologize. Also, you weren't the only one who said that anyway. Besides, it's true.

You can't stop them from following you on reaction. It's gay. Fox, sheik, marth, falcon, and probably a few have a reasonable amount of time to follow your tech due to their movement speed/range. When I play against those marths in the vids, they drop like 6 combos in 1 stock (and still get the 0-death or at least 120% most of the time), but it doesn't matter because it's so easy to keep pressure when you're close enough/didn't miss f-smash or something.

yeah. I find jumping or rolling away from them are best (unless the have noticeably moved too close and you can shine them).
